St Luke’s Breakfast and Shower Ministry
Saturday, September 21, 7:30 to approx 9:30 a.m.
The St. Luke's Breakfast and Shower Ministry always loves new volunteers. We support St. Luke’s shower program for men and women without homes, in Long Beach. Every other month, on Saturday mornings from around 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., we provide a nourishing breakfast of hard-boiled eggs (prepared the night before by our youth group!), warm soup, crackers, muffins, fruit, hot coffee and chocolate. We support St. Luke’s shower program for men and women without homes, in Long Beach.
More volunteers are needed. You need to commit to three hours (7a.m. - 10a.m.) six times per year on the third Saturday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. We particularly need help transporting supplies from St. Francis to St. Luke's. For more information, email Gayle Taylor.

Habitat For Humanity - Donate a Brick!
Saturday, November 2
Once again, God’s people are in need of a good carpenter! St. Francis is very excited to be joining again with Habitat For Humanity to help build a home for a family in need. We already have all the volunteers we can take, but to fund the day, we are pledged to donate $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity. To help fund-raise, the St. Francis community will present the family that will live in the house with an artistic "brick wall", each brick of which will hold the name of a donor. Bricks cost $50 ea. Please make checks payable to “St. Francis Church” with Habitat for Humanity in the memo section. Questions? Email or call Mike Spalding 310-897-3097.
Drivers and Sorters Needed for our Blue Bin Ministry
Next Sort—Next Wed, Sep 18, 1:30 p.m. at the Blue Bin
If you are looking for a direct way to help the poor and homeless in our community, please consider helping us sort the contributions (clothing, shoes, linens, toiletries, etc.) donated to the Blue Bin in our lower parking lot. In addition to sorting, we could use more volunteers to take turns delivering the sorted items to Harbor Interfaith, St. Luke’s, The Salvation Army, etc. Thank you for your consideration in helping support this vital ministry. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email Outreach Shepherd Gayle Taylor.

Participants will set goals for positive actions in many aspects of their lives, such as exercise, nutrition, finances, advance care planning, community engagement, healthy relationships, and sleep. This game-changing program has proven overwhelmingly effective for a wide variety of people - both younger and older.
