World Tiger Weekend
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

July 30-31: 9 am - 5 pm
 
This weekend is all about celebrating the tigers at the zoo! On both days, see tigers enjoy enrichments like whipped cream, melons and meat shanks! Plus, each day enjoy fun tiger activities around the Asian Forest Sanctuary. Free with admission to the zoo.  

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department will host a Covid-19 vaccine clinic at the event on Saturday with first, second, and booster doses available from 9 am - 4 pm.
Mini Kickers Soccer

Four weeks in August (Ages 3-6)

Our mini programs are designed for ages 3-6 to give them a fun way to get into sports. Registration is open now for soccer which begins in August. The program meets once a week for 4 weeks.

Slug Fest
Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

July 30-31: 9:30 am - 5 pm

It's the most unusual Northwest Festival ever - a celebration of slugs. Learn to see the world through a slug's perspective, craft and wear your own tentacles to become a slug and participate in human slug races. May the slime be with you! Free with admission to the wildlife park.

Friday, August 5: 7 pm

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to Point Defiance Park’s bowl area (near the pond) on July 8 or to Wright Park on August 5 for a free live performance of Shakespeare classics: A midsummer Night’s Dream and Cymbeline. Performed by Seattle Shakespeare’s Wooden O Productions. 
Family Nature Walks

Bring the entire family to explore Tacoma Parks during free naturalist-led walks. Discover the amazing plants and animals that live in these parks and how they adapt in the different seasons. Visit the website to register for these free walks! 
Intermediate Kayak Trip - Nisqually Delta Sunset Paddle
Luhr Beach Boat Launch

Saturday, August 6: 3:30 pm

(Age 16+) Enjoy this paddle through the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Check out all kinds of birds, sea life and plants as you paddle on this three hour trip through the delta. This activity meets at the Luhr Beach Boat Launch.

Pack your snacks, blankets and lawn chairs and head to the park for a free outdoor movie for the whole family. Seating is on the lawn, so attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs.
 
Enjoy a variety of activities including inflatable slide, games, entertainment, crafts, food truck, outdoor movie and more.
