Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to Point Defiance Park’s bowl area (near the pond) on July 8 or to Wright Park on August 5 for a free live performance of Shakespeare classics: A midsummer Night’s Dream and Cymbeline. Performed by Seattle Shakespeare’s Wooden O Productions.

Tiptoe through the Tidepools
Titlow Beach

July 14: 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Bring your family to explore the beach, learn about tide pool life and have lots of fun during some of the lowest tides of the year. A naturalist will guide low-tide beach exploration. This event is free! Meet at Titlow Beach. Wear shoes to protect from the rocky beach and bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Owen Beach at Point Defiance Park

July 15 (12 pm - 2 pm), August 12 (11 am - 1 pm)
 
Discover tidal animals like crabs, shellfish, anemones and more during low tide at Owen Beach. Naturalists from Point Defiance Zoo will help you spot and identify all the unique species that are uncovered with each tide. Ages 5 and up. Free. Beach walks last 2 hours, though you’re welcome to stay longer! 
Family Fun Night
Fort Nisqually Living History Museum

June 15 (6 pm - 9 pm)

Bring a picnic dinner and travel back to 1855 for an evening of old-fashioned family fun! Earn prizes for competing in classic competitions like a plate and cup race, sack race, and three-legged race. The highlight of the evening comes with the firing of saltwater taffy from the candy cannon!

Pack your snacks, blankets and lawn chairs and head to the park for a free outdoor movie. Seating is on the lawn, so attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs. Presented by the Rainbow Center and The Grand Cinema. 
Zookeeper Academy
Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

July 16 - 17 9:30 am - 5 pm

Learn all about being a zookeeper from the keepers at Northwest Trek. Do a self-guided junior zookeeper challenge including a balance beam, log rolling, poo pick up (a vital part of the job!), and practice sorting proper diets for different animals. Free with admission to the wildlife park.

Pack a picnic and bring the family for a day on the Cambia Legacy Lawn at Dune Peninsula. Enjoy live music on the main stage while taking in views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and Tacoma’s waterfront. Presented by Point Ruston.

Owl Together Now
2.5 and 4.5 Mile Fun Run

Saturday, July 23: 6 pm (Point Defiance Park)

Join us for this exciting collaborative fun run! This evening run will take place at Point Defiance Park on the inner loop of Five Mile Drive. The paved course will be illuminated by lights while still giving that night feel that owls often experience! The course is stroller and pet friendly.

Your participation in this race helps support the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium Zoo Keeper Association. July is Zookeeper Awareness month so get some movement on and support a fun and meaningful cause!
