Famous African Author Ngugi Wa Thiong'o Visited Kiwimbi Kenya!
Kiwimbi Kenya launched its first Annual Book Festival last Saturday with a very special guest in attendance, Ngugi Wa Thiong'o, one of Africa's most celebrated authors. Professor Thiong'o launched the Kiwimbi Amagoro-Kamirithu Prize For World Literature during his visit. The winner of the prize will receive $1000 (US) dollars for stories or essays written in African languages. The aim of this endeavour is to promote and encourage African language writing with a broader aim of preserving these languages and sharing the stories with the world through translations.
