Conscious Discipline- A Program Wide Effort

Conscious Discipline is becoming a core part of Wild Plum Center. Our Mental Health Consultant is helping us apply it's foundations of safety, connection and problem-solving in our leadership meetings, all-staff meetings, classrooms and Parent Nights. We believe that the 7 Powers and Skills of Conscious Discipline can transform ourselves, and as a result, generate positive impacts in our program, classes, families, and community.

This month we laid the framework of Conscious Discipline and how it impacts our Brain States and reactions to unwanted behavior. The "Window of Tolerance" provided insight into triggers and experiences that can dictate our ability to handle challenges and emotions.

We look forward to sharing the impact Conscious Discipline is having as the school year progresses.

Service Spotlight

One thing we love about our community is our neighbors.

This past month we began to explore different ways that Wild Plum Center and Growing Gardens can work towards meeting each others needs. They began by donating over 213 pounds! of produce to our families who greatly benefitted from their nutrient dense donation. We are excited to be across the street from their Longmont Farm at 9th and Meeker. Over the next year together, we will dream of new ways to support the needs of our families and those of the Longmont community.

In a similar realm, the Heart of Longmont Church (home to 5 of our center-based classrooms) put together their second "Chef Hearty" meal kit for our families to make together. Each kit includes a kid-friendly recipe and all the ingredients they need to cook a "hearty" family meal together.

May we not forget our incredible partnership with Conscious Alliance and Plum Organics. For nearly five years, they have supplied Plum Organic Pouches in both the center-based and home based program.

We are lucky to have such wonderful neighbors who are committed to the well-being of others. Thanks to the many of you who supported these efforts.

Community Spotlight

The Longmont Museum never ceases to amaze us (or support us). From providing space to host the Ooey Gooey Lady (R) as well as monthly socializations for our home-based families.

Most recently, we were absolutely thrilled to receive their gift of 10 Discovery Day passes for EACH of our 250 families! We know how much fun our students have learning and exploring under their roof and feel so fortunate that they'll get to bring their families too.
