Farewell Message from Fr. Evan Simington
Dear faithful of Saint Kateri,

Ever since I first received my assignment to Saint Kateri in July of 2017, I have treasured all the ways that God has been at work in our midst. God has produced great joy and rejoicing in my life with this assignment. Your willingness to allow me to become a part of your lives has humbled me and enabled me to learn, grow, and develop as a young priest. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to you for all the ways that you have loved me, supported me, and prayed for me. This genuine gift of your love is a tangible expression of your commitment to Jesus Christ and it has made working and serving at Saint Kateri such a blessing.

I would be remiss if I did not take time to specifically thank my pastors and my brother priests. Fr. Paul English C.S.B. was such a kind and supportive Pastor and we have all been equally graced by the leadership of Fr. Gonyo. I have also been deeply blessed by the senior wisdom and care of Fr. Joe Trovato C.S.B. and Fr. Walter Cushing. All of these men have been a tremendous example to me.

As difficult as it is to say good-bye, I am confident that I am leaving you in extremely good hands with Fr. Gonyo and my successor, who will be arriving shortly. Please keep him in your prayers and please keep me in your prayers as I make my way across this great country to Irvine, California. Thank you again for all your love and support and I will make it a great priority to continue to keep you in my prayers and come back to visit in the future.

God bless,
Fr. Evan Simington

Volunteers Needed
Bethany House Reopens After Shutdown
Bethany House is looking for volunteers to help staff the daily Food Pantry and assist with tasks around the house. We need 3 individuals daily between the hours of 9:30 am and 1 pm to staff the Food Pantry. We are following the direction of Food Link, so currently we are preparing bags of food and meeting individuals at the door. We provide masks and gloves for volunteers, clean the area daily and do a daily COVID-19 check. We are also looking for teams of individuals to prepare weekday meals* for the guests (usually somewhere between 7 and 10). Finally, we are hoping to restart our Wednesday prayer service and community meals. For this we need several volunteers to prepare the meals* and one or two individuals to lead the prayer. If you are interested or need additional information, please contact Sr. Karen Dietz at karen@bethanyhouserocny.org or 585-454-4197.

*Because of our connection to Food Link and their food safety rules, food must be prepared in our kitchen, assuring a consistent temperature.
