Dear Friends and Colleagues of IMAP:
Six years ago, a group of academics and investors got together to create a new research-focused initiative with the goal of improving the measurement of business impacts. That vision was the Impact Measurement & Allocation Program - IMAP. Today we write with the unfortunate news that IMAP has been discontinued, and as such our program will end this summer.
We can't say goodbye without noting our productive and exciting 2025-2026 academic year, including six lunch seminars and our Fall 2025 workshop which dove into the topic of What is Good Governance Amid Regulatory Uncertainty?
And over the years we have hosted:
- four fall workshops
- 30+ lunch seminars
- two special panel discussions with PRI (Principles of Responsible Investment)
-
four ESG-focused podcasts for the Is Business Broken? series
We seeded 13 Boston University research projects relevant to our mission, collectively funding 18 faculty and 21 student researchers from 11 different degree programs. We also published nine papers and created a following on LinkedIn and YouTube.
We can most certainly look back with pride on the many ways we have built a community of academics, practitioners, and students with common-shared values in understanding some of these fundamental issues facing society.
We want to sincerely thank you for your support over the years in helping to make IMAP a success. We are especially grateful to our distinguished external advisory board and affiliated faculty research leaders, who together worked to advance corporate measurements of social and environmental impacts.
As of July 8, Susan Murphy and Debora Hoffman will no longer be working at Boston University and can instead be reached on LinkedIn.
Eddie Riedl will remain your point of contact for any future BU correspondence and is in the process of identifying alternative pathways to sustain the work and efforts in this area.
Thank you again for all your support
Eddie Riedl, Susan Murphy, and Debora Hoffman
