The Partnership Bids Farewell to

Our 2026 Equity Policy Research Fellows

As we say farewell to our three Equity Policy Research fellows, the California Housing Partnership celebrates another summer of preparing the next generation of housing leaders. The Equity Policy Research Fellowship (EPR) program is a 12-week intensive training and coaching program for existing undergraduate and graduate students designed to diversify the advocacy and research field and expand access to careers in the field of affordable housing.

Over the summer, the fellows contributed to the Partnership’s affordable housing preservation and policy efforts. They analyzed Proposition 1’s potential impact, showing how the bond’s investments are expected to create and preserve more than 40,000 affordable homes across the state. They also supported the development of a new statewide tool for understanding what it costs to build affordable housing, which the Partnership will launch later this year.

Meanwhile, the Partnership provided training, mentoring and networking opportunities for hands-on experience, skill building, and exposure to the affordable housing ecosystem. The fellows reflected positively on their experience and the connections they made throughout the summer. As one fellow shared, “It has been a wonderful summer, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn so much from the dedicated and passionate experts both within CHP and within the field.” Their experience reflects the fellowship’s goal of connecting emerging housing professionals with the people, organizations, and ideas shaping affordable housing across California.

We are especially grateful to the many state, regional, and local agencies, policymakers, housing providers, and advocacy organizations that generously shared their time and expertise to broaden the fellows’ understanding of the field.

We also extend our thanks for the generous grants from the following organizations, enabling us to bring on our three students:
