Where Wakefield Connects

The library will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

Saying goodbye to Wakefield Wildflowers!

Wakefield came together this summer to create a fabulous floral display, and its botanical abundance graced the Blake Gallery throughout August. Thanks to our patrons for contributing their artistic talents to this vision of vegetation, and thanks to reference librarian Catie for dreaming of this project and making it happen!

Put your chattiness to good use:

Guided Reading of Homer's Odyssey

Monday, September 21, 6:30-7:30 PM

in the Living Room

"Circe" by Frederick Stuart Church, American Art Museum, via Smithsonian Open Access.

We're lucky enough to have Dr. Chris Constas, a professor at Boston College, hosting a very special program that guides us through a reading of the The Odyssey by Homer translated by Robert Fagles. This will be an ongoing series with separate sign up for each session. On September 21, Dr. Constas will be focusing on Books 1, 4, 5, and 8 (please note change from last week's newsletter). Although Matt Damon's abs will not be included in this educational experience, we're still looking forward to a lively discussion about this thrilling and enduring classic text!
