Come up to the High Country

Dear Friends of Riley's Farm:

Farm Map

The High Country Harvest: When I drive home from, say, Redlands, I can see the temperature dropping on my dashboard. Come on up and harvest apples, pears, and berries this weekend, along with hayrides, two live bands, archery, tomahawks, and fields full of flowers. Crop report here. This weekend's farm map and activities here.

Sleepy Hollow: Eleven nights are now sold out, so we opened up a Wednesday night performance on October 23. Here's the number of seats we have left for each of the other FIVE shows: September 20 (63 seats), October 3 (29 seats), October 10 (108 seats), October 17 (87 seats), October 24 (59 seats). Start clicking! (Live music, pumpkin-carving, dancing, hayrides, and the ride of the headless horseman!)

Emerald City: I've been talking to some very smart young people (lawyers, MBAs, CPAs) about equity or reward crowd-funding, so as to improve the farm and make it more attractive. The "joint stock company," which made the settling of America possible, seems to be making a comeback among small investors. We believe many of you would like to see a few small cottages, better trails, some historic craft production buildings, and places to learn homesteading skills. The big question is: would you, our customers and friends, invest in such a project? Let us know. We have no choice but to grow, or sell. It's that important.

You know what they say about California: "you can have a great small business in this state. You just have to start with a very large one."

See you soon,

James Riley
