Cider Pressing & Live Music

Dear Friends of Riley's Farm:

Cider Pressing & Two Live Bands: We're showing sunny and low 80s tomorrow for the 5th week of the harvest. We have King David, Glen Seedling and Senshu apples to pick, along with pears, flowers, and pumpkins. You can also press your own cider. Read the whole scoop here with our harvest map and schedule. (PDF)

Sleepy Hollow: We are so sold out this year, that we have opened up two Wednesday night performances. Get your tickets here.

Emerald City: This week, I tried to track down those rare operators of the gargantuan boring rigs responsible for the wine caves of Paso Robles and Napa. (Picture this: a machine that grinds a 12 to 30 foot WIDE tunnel into the ground.) The guys who operate these monsters may be on social media, here and there, but they aren't the kind to post a lot of selfies. I still have no idea what a real cider cave would cost? Millions? Billions? Some folks in the family even want to build "hobbit hole" cottages for normal size people, but how will that ever happen if we can't find the heavy equipment dudes?

California gripe: is anyone else getting annoyed, when shopping for gas-powered equipment online, to see the words "not available in California?" If you wonder why your ribeye steak costs $26, (grocery store raw) it's pretty simple: mindless, well-meaning, science-devoid regulation. Carbon dioxide is our friend, folks, not our enemy. (When former presidents buy ocean front homes and expect you to plug in your lawnmower, someone is running the "big con" on all of us.)

November, The Harvest Feast: Repeat: An 18th century thanksgiving dinner is not complete without fighting off the craven tools of King George! We need steady friends of liberty with good aim and hearts of oak! Is that you? Of course it is! Fridays and Saturdays in November.

Christmas Events: Remember, we host TWO DIFFERENT Christmas Dinners, "Christmas in the Colonies" and "A Christmas Carol." The Friday and Saturday night events are selling out quickly, so we opened up Thursday nights as well. Get your tickets!

Movie Plug: If you haven't seen Am I Racist, go soon! Mary and I laughed our fool heads off. Critical Race Theory is a fundamentalist religion, meant for low-functioning (and cruel) morons. Matt Walsh hangs these pretentious racists out to dry, and, in the process, reminds us what could make America great again: God made us all brothers and sisters. It's time for us to lock arms.

I guess that's enough for one week..

See you soon,

James Riley

Can you tell that I am more than mildly proud of our flower fields? We don't sell a lot of flowers but people seem to love taking pictures in the middle of them.

There's a ridiculous rumor about some Hessian riding around in this corn field. It's so absurd, I won't even tell you what they are saying about him, except that he doesn't have a head. That's ridiculous. We haven't had a politician around here for years.

If you build it..
