Gratitude and appreciation to our teammates
Some things in life are inevitable like compost, weeds, and change. This month, we say a fond farewell to two powerhouse women who have been central to the growth and success of our programs.
Sarah and Kaleigh are moving on to exciting new chapters of their lives but their impact on our community will be felt for many seasons to come.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2019
Reflections on a day spent working in community
At
Bounty Farm, we hold a few days of service each year to honor pivotal people who have built movements and fought tirelessly for equity. Last month, we honored and celebrated the life of Martin Luther King Jr, who battled racial and economic injustices towards a vision of a more just future.
As a community farm with a mission centered around community food security, Dr. King's vision resonates deeply with our own goals in furthering food justice. On January 21st, we worked with close to 50 people on various farm projects, in community, for community.

Chavez's life as a dedicated labor leader and civil rights activist, Bounty Farm joins other organizations in holding the annual
Cesar Chavez Day of Service on March 30th.
We will also be holding a sharing circle in remembrance of
Cesar
Chavez and his work in social justice, workers' rights, and non-violence.

Ninth Annual Petaluma Bounty Plant Sale!
Join us Sunday, April 14th
 Our ninth-annual Plant Sale is coming up in just over a month! If you've been by the farm lately, you've likely seen us seeding, organizing pots, and preparing for one of our largest events of the year.
This event is a wonderful way to buy your garden starts as well as keep your local community farm thriving. Proceeds support Bounty Farm operations and community initiatives hosted on site. Additionally, all
plants
not sold will be donated to under-resourced school, community and public benefit garden initiatives.

Farmer Field Notes: Winter Season
Reyna shares her perspective on this wet and reflective season
While winter time on the farm may evoke visions of empty fields, frosty mornings and silence, I have found my first winter at Bounty to be quite meditative and reflective for just those reasons. Winter's stillness and briskness brings me to reflect on our bustling summer days, reminding me to soak in the change of pace and appreciate what the winter months offer.
And it's not too quiet! Our volunteer days on Wednesdays to harvest for our Farmacy and Saturday work projects bring a whole other warmth to the farm. Our cover crop offers a picturesque blanket of green that's working to keep our soils protected and nitrogen-prepared for the upcoming growing season. Our brassicae crops (cabbage, broccoli, kale, romanesco cauliflower, kohlrabi) thrive in this weather whereby frosty temperatures push them to produce more sugar for plant cell protection (and a sweeter product for our palettes!).

10th Anniversary Orchard Celebration
Join us March 23rd for a celebration of the 10th year of the Bounty Farm orchard
Last year, we celebrated ten years of growing food and community on Bounty Farm. This spring, we honor the orchard on Bounty Farm, which was planted ten years ago and yields hundreds pounds of delicious apples, pears, peaches, plums and other fruit each season.
Join us
on Saturday March 23rd from 12 to 1pm for a guided walk around the orchard with long-term orchard caretakers and special guests. Learn more about the ten-year history of the orchard, the many varieties planted here, and what it takes to produce the gorgeous fruit we have come to love each season. Free and family-friendly!
