Join us for a farm tour and prairie seed saving event. We will have seed saving demos and hands-on seed processing time. Food will also be provided. This is a community event for anyone interested in learning about seed saving. If you have prairie seeds to process feel free to bring them along. Everyone will get to leave with seeds. We will also get a farm tour of Mullein Hill, which grows vegetables, herbs, and native plants.

Southwest Iowa Local Foods Summit

Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Avoca Veterans Community Center, 112 N. Elm St., Avoca, IA 

Join Golden Hills and Center for Rural Affairs for a one-day summit on local foods in southwest Iowa featuring educational sessions from regional speakers, featured businesses along Avoca’s Main Street, locally-sourced food, and networking time. 

Topics include: 

• Farm to school
• Grants and funds available for local foods and farmers
• Rural grocery store initiatives
• Farm stories, and more

The summit will also include:

• Breakfast and lunch catered by Milk & Honey of Harlan, Iowa 
• Exhibitor booths and farm stands for community members to gather resources + shop
