Maria's Homemade Pierogies
There's something extra special about recipes that are passed down through the generations. Daria Kolodij's pierogies are one of those special finds. Daria's mother Maria started teaching her to cook when she was just three years old. And today Daria carries on her family's Ukrania tradition with her mouthwatering pierogies, lovingly named after her mother. Featured in Edible Jersey Magazine, these pierogies are larger and heartier than their Polish counterparts and have flavor to match. 

Choose from Potato and Onion ($1 ea.) or Farmer's Cheese ($2 ea.), or better yet, try them both! You can purchase them frozen for take-home or enjoy them on-site, and sauteed in butter.

Flour Shop Bakery
The Flour Shop is gearing up for Fat Tuesday with some fabulous fasnachts this weekend! These scrumptious hand formed doughnuts are made with organic flour and Scholl Orchards' cider, and then fried to perfection! Choose from traditional plain, glazed, powdered, and cinnamon sugar.

Stephen and his team have been busy growing more incredibly flavorful chemical-free greens in their aquaponic jungle.

Farmstand Recipes' Hot Soup Bar continues this week with Tanya serving up West African Peanut Stew (a crowd favorite!), Vegetable Minestrone, and Italian Wedding (served with Vegetarian Mushroom Meatballs). 

But the big news is that Chef Scott is bringing his *brand new* fresh creations outside this weekend! His Vegan Tacos feature perfectly seasoned mushrooms, guacamole & pico de gallo nestled in a crunchy Bibb lettuce wrap. But that's not all... his Vietnamese Spring Rolls will also be making an appearance. Fresh veggies rolled in rice paper served with sriracha make for the perfect snack on the go! Why Buy Sourdough?

There's a lot of talk about gut health these days. Did you know that the sourdough bread is generally easier on the gut? This is due in large part to the bread's pre-biotic content. The sourdough fermentation process also degrades the gluten (to a greater extent than yeast) and provides nutritional benefits. Apple Ridge Farm's sourdough is the real deal and is made with all organic flour. Lately they've been adding ancient wheats and spelt flours into the mix. Heads-Up: Some store-bought sourdough breads are not made using the traditional sourdough method, thereby reducing their health benefits. Buying sourdough bread from an artisan baker or a farmer's market increases the likelihood of it being 'true' sourdough bread.

Looking to try a new mushroom? Say hello to the super flavorful Pioppino, your market manager's favorite! The Pioppino (aka black poplar mushroom, aka Italian mushroom) has a nutty flavor and keeps its mushroom shape upon cooking. It fries up crispy with potatoes or works great in soup. In addition to amazing flavor, texture, and presentation, it also has a lower water content which yields a longer shelf life!

TIP: Dice up a batch of beets and butternut squash and roast on cookie sheets. Refrigerate for use all week long in salads, stir-fries, or side dishes!
