FPC Chili Cookoff

Come one, come all, to the FPC Chili & Crock Pot Cook-off! It will be held directly after worship on Sunday, March 1, in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your best pot of chili or your favorite crock pot dish, and we’ll provide the fixings, drinks, and extras for the kids. We’d love to see you and share a bowl (or more)!

The golden ladle trophy is up for grabs and will be awarded for the best dish, by popular vote!

If you do plan to bring a pot of chili or crock pot dish, please sign up HERE, to make sure we have enough.

All crockpots should be dropped off in the fellowship hall prior to the 10:00 service. Please inconspicuously label your crockpot with your name. Also, please let one of the kitchen volunteers know what you have brought.

If you have any questions - please contact the church office.

Wednesdays Together

Wednesdays Together are back for the spring starting on March 4! We will meet for dinner at 5:30 pm, with programming for all ages starting at 6:00 pm. We are thrilled to welcome our very own Kristina Carlson as the leader of our upcoming program! Kristina is the author of Outrageous Kindness… A Mindset, A Method, A Movement, and she will guide us through an engaging four-week study on how kindness can be practiced in everyday life—and in extraordinary moments. Stay tuned for more information on each week's dinner menu.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Due to the county wide destruction from the winter storm, Empty Bowls has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 17! Make sure to wear your green and come out to support your local Pantry!

A Word from The Diaconate

At times members of FPC can use help from our congregation by providing meals during times of sickness, a death in the family, or other difficult times. If you are interested in helping the Diaconate with this ministry, please contact Marty Mauldin at smmauldin@bellsouth.net or 662-832-3925.

FPC Returns to Cuba!

On February 26th a FPC team will return to visit our sister Presbyterian church in Jagüey Grande, Cuba. This will be our third trip in two years in which we celebrate our common faith as we deepen the ties that bind. Another objective for the trip is to make preliminary plans for the installation of a Living Waters for the World water purification system at their church later this fall. As the economic crisis in Cuba has deepened, blackouts are a daily occurrence, potable water shortages are commonplace, and basic staples are becoming unaffordable for many. Yet our Cuban friends continue to offer hope for their members and neighbors through a breakfast ministry, Bible studies, worship, and fellowship throughout the week. When asked how FPC might assist in their ministry, Pastor Lia Hernandez submitted a wish list of supplies. Items range from liturgical cloth to medications to extension cords. If you are interested in donating please click here to contribute. Not comfortable with the digital signup? No problemas! Call the church office for assistance. Thank you for your consideration.

Kairos

Help the Kairos of Mississippi Ministry Team while they minister to and fellowship with Marshall County Correctional Facility inmates March 12-15. Bake or buy 1 dozen cookies and drop off Tuesday, March 10 to the church office. If you are interested in bringing cookies, please click here to sign up!

Thank you for your continued support of the Blessing Bag Ministry. Our current needs are:

Individually wrapped plastic forks and spoons

Canned peaches or fruit cocktail

Protein bars

Toiletries:

small sizes or travel sizes of shampoo, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste

wet wipes

toothbrushes

If you have any questions, please contact Marty Mauldin 662-832-3925 or smmauldin@bellsouth.net.

The Doors of Hope Transition Ministry, based in the education building here at FPC, is an outreach agency that assists single parents in their efforts to become self-sufficient. Through finance and budget counseling, a limited period of housing assistance, educational opportunities, and employment services, clients learn to break crippling patterns of dependance and start new lives. Each month graduates of the program meet with current clients during the Step 2 Dinner. While sharing a meal, clients are encouraged by the success stories of their predecessors. It will soon be a new year and hosts will be needed for the dinner held in the Fellowship Hall the second Tuesday of the month. It's easy! The meal is catered. Hosts set up and then sit at table with new friends. Or if you prefer, simply drop off a dessert. Click here to volunteer and become a part of this meaningful ministry.

If you would like assistance or know of someone who does,

please contact the church office at
