Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, members of His flock, of which Jesus is the Shepherd (John 10:16), Jesus being the first to preach His gift of repentance (Matthew 4:17), now calling on each of us also to preach repentance (Luke 24:47).
In this turbulent time, God's gift of fasting brings Him closer. With fasting the focus then is on Him, not on food and the flesh. His Wisdom then is number one in our lives.
Our Lord Jesus had a clear Word on this:
And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they put on a sad and dismal face [like actors, discoloring their faces with ashes or dirt] so that their fasting may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. (Matthew 6:16, amplified).
Daniel, also, learning from the book of Jeremiah that 70 years were pronounced by the Lord for the desolations of Jerusalem, used this fasting and repentance process to confess his sins and the sins of his nation:
in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the books the number of years which, according to the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the desolations [which had been] pronounced on Jerusalem would end; and it was seventy years. So I directed my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed and said, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and extends lovingkindness toward those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed wrong, and have behaved wickedly and have rebelled, turning away from Your commandments and ordinances. (Daniel 9 2-5).
And so today, you and I can fast and repent. Fasting also is a wonderful way to "seek His face"--- the 3rd step in national healing. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Checking with the indwelling Holy Spirit, may we each fast and pray during these vital times, much as did Anna, whose constant fasting and prayers bore witness of the Redeemer! (Luke 2:36-38).
