16 Years of the "Father's Message"

Way back in 2004 when Chris went off to the University of Tennessee, I felt the need to start a daily devotional so I could stay connected to him and share my faith-walk in a real and vulnerable way. Molly got excited and made sure I expanded the list of readers and over the next couple of years, several hundred people were getting the message. It was daunting at times, as I did over 3000 messages in 12 years. By November of 2016, I felt that my messages had become less about my kids and more about my PRIDE , so I shut them down. The pressure to write a daily message was off and I thought I would probably never do them again.

Much to my surprise, two years later, in 2018, Chris asked me to start them again and to add video as well. He wanted to be able to share them with his kids someday. What an honor! He also asked me to begin teaching a class that Molly and I had done back in the late 90's called Growing Kids God's Way for him and his friends with small children. 2-years later, God has blessed me as I've worked with over 25 young couples. That led to starting a men's group from the GKGW class, and now starting Ignite Purpose ministry (see below) .

So, What… for This Week?

Each week, I encourage readers to act on what they've read. I never thought that I would be starting a ministry. Who am I? I'm just a guy who tries to "show up!" I never felt qualified to lead a ministry, but my passion has always been for my family. To be able to live you my passion for Jesus Christ by blessing my kids and their friends is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

What is Ignite Purpose?
Ignite Purpose is a (soon to be non-profit) ministry that I am creating that equips the next generation with power, purpose and a plan to live passionate, engaged, and meaningful lives; successfully balancing deep family relationships, rewarding jobs, with a sense of direction that compels them to change the world around them and touch those they influence with the love of Jesus Christ.  Ignite Purpose programs include both personal and business growth programs that millennials need to make Biblically-driven decisions that will lead to a passionate, engaged, balanced and meaningful life.  

I have applied for non-profit (501c3) status and am waiting for approval from the IRS. At that point, I will be creating a website and focus on promoting the ministry for a wider influence for God's Kingdom. I'd love to talk to anyone interested in being part of Ignite Purpose as there is always a place for people to serve, be served and give! Your prayers are greatly appreciated.
