A 'Happy Fathers' Day'
to hard-working Dads

,

I would like to pause from campaign activities to wish all the great Dads out there a Happy Fathers' Day, with special warm regards to my own Dad and Step-Dad. I was blessed to have hard-working, influential males in my life, and they helped shape my thoughts about the ways in which role-models with good, caring attitudes can affect our communities in positive ways. My Dad is a plumber, proud of his union ties; and my Step-Dad is a music teacher, still passionately working with his church choir.

I hope you have strong men in your lives, who have offered a positive influence, who you are able to recognize this Fathers' Day.

Taking pride in Pride Month

This has been a month of searing emotions, topped by the grief in connection with the mass shooting at the Orlando gay night club. It will be a long time before any of us begin to recover from that tragedy, and those victims won't be forgotten. I support continued efforts by legislators and government agencies to find solutions to this ongoing problem of completely senseless mass murders. I was honored to participate in a vigil at the Tracks night club in Denver with many highly respected public officials, and I found the speeches to be inspiring.

It is doubly hurtful that this tragedy occurred during Pride Month, just as folks here were planning this weekend's Pride Month parade at Cheesman Park.

I was endorsed by One Colorado in May, and I will be marching in the parade this morning (9:30) with the Democractic Party and campaign supporters, in solidarity with their efforts. If you would like to join us, please send an email to [email protected]. Or just show up! You'll find us and recognize us by our red-white-and-black Zenzinger Campaign T-shirts.
Sand in the City, help needed

We are looking for just three more volunteers willing to help staff the Rachel Zenzinger campaign booth at Sand and the City at Ralston Park in Arvada next weekend (both days!). We're working in two-hour shifts, between 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. the first day and between 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. the second day. Call 608-293-1529 or send an email to [email protected].
We're also looking for eight volunteers to help with Westy Fest Aug. 13. Sign up now and name your shift, between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and/or help with set-up.

Champions of Education

Thank you to the enthusiastic supporters who turned out at the Champions of Education Fundraising Event recently, which went a long way toward boosting the finances of this campaign. Thanks especially to Jonna Levine, Shawna Fritzler, Sen. Andy Kerr and the entire Support Jeffco Kids organization.

On a side note, and of particular relevance, I recently learned that I have received endorsement by the Colorado Education Association and the Jefferson County Education Association.
More fundraising news

Thanks to events like the Champions of Education, we are now up to $90,000 in total funds raised in this campaign. The generosity from folks like our newsletter readers has put this campaign in excellent position to succeed; but we need more to get us through to November. If you are able/inclined to donate, please click here.  We have another fundraising deadline Wednesday!
Need yard-sign locations

We still need yard sign locations. We are recording all the addresses that you have sent us so far, and everybody will receive their yard signs at the appropriate time. But right now, we are still collecting locations, with an emphasis on heavily trafficked street corners. Thank you for your confirmed locations! Send the address to [email protected], with the name and contact information of the property owners. Thank you!
Etc.

We have received the official support from Plumbers Union Local 3, Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Farmers Insurance. Thanks to those organizations!

...Please remember to vote in the Colorado primary, and I hope you will vote for me! I'm uncontested, but we still need to make my name on the ballot official, and it would be a good way to get a gauge of this campaign's support.
Donations

Every important political campaign these days requires significant funding, and this one is no exception. We need to find a way to pay for brochures, direct mail pieces, advertisements and other tools to help make voters aware of their choices. Please consider making any level of contribution to the "Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado" campaign, and help me get elected in 2016.
