City Manager's Report

There’s so many exciting events in our community, and this week has been especially memorable as we live up to our reputation as America’s "Can Do" city. It has really been a reflection of our collective spirit, dedicated to making Fayetteville the very best place to live, work, and recreate together.

We proudly cut the ribbon for the beautiful new Deep Creek Road Community Center at Mable C. Smith Park this morning. We had a setback which made us pause, but nothing could have stopped us from delivering what residents and our City Council wanted. This sentiment was stated throughout inspirational remarks by those who attended which culminated with two themes for the City: perseverance and commitment. This building now stands ready to host countless community gatherings, family celebrations, and events that strengthen our connections. This space embodies our city’s "Can Do" spirit, turning challenges into opportunities, uniting us in pride, purpose, and progress.

We warmly welcomed Griffith, our new Crisis Response Dog, into the Fayetteville Fire Department family. I was able to attend the short but impactful ceremony yesterday at Fire Station 5. Griffin is funded by community partners and trained to support our brave first responders, Griffith exemplifies our deep-rooted commitment to caring for those who serve us every day. His presence ensures our firefighters have essential support to handle stress and trauma, reminding us that in Fayetteville, we "Can Do" anything when we take care of each other.

This evening, we invite our young residents to the Late-Night Fun Night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the College Lakes Recreation Center. This evening is all about providing a safe, engaging space for our teens. Activities ranging from basketball and board games to video gaming and a special hockey tournament hosted by our Fayetteville Marksmen team. The June event was well attended, and I hope this one will be just as successful!



I also want to let you know that the Fayetteville-Cumberland Economic Development Corporation’s Can Do Performance Financing Program is now accepting applications. Existing businesses located in a low-to-moderate income census tract within the City of Fayetteville can request up to $750,000 for capital expenses in exchange for creating new full-time jobs.
