The City of Fayetteville's unwavering commitment to our residents is reflected in everything we do, driven by our core values of respect, ethics, and stewardship. That was on full display today as we celebrated the swearing-in of Chief Roberto E. Bryan Jr. as our newest Chief of Police. For those who were able to witness the remarkable moment, which began not only a new chapter for our Police Department but also honored the enduring bond between the police and the community we serve.
The event was thoughtfully coordinated, thanks to the dedicated Fayetteville Police Department staff. I would be remiss if I did not thank Fayetteville State University for hosting the event and showing what an exceptional partner they are. The collective effort from everyone created a truly memorable and dignified ceremony for Chief Bryan and his Family and friends. A fitting reflection of Chief Bryan’s esteemed service and vision for Fayetteville.
Chief Bryan brings extensive experience, spanning a commendable career with the Durham Police, the DEA, and most recently, significant leadership roles within our own city and Fayetteville State University. His career reflects a consistent commitment to integrity, collaboration, and progressive law enforcement practices.
The significance of this event was amplified by heartfelt special remarks from Mayor Mitch Colvin and Chancellor Darrell T. Allison, and an emotional badge-pinning by Chief Bryan's father. As City Manager, I had the distinct honor to present Chief Bryan with his official credentials, marking the beginning of his tenure as our Chief of Police.
We look forward to Chief Bryan’s leadership, knowing he will build on our department's core values of “Faith, Pride, and Dedication” to ensure Fayetteville continues to be a safe, inclusive, and vibrant city for all residents.
Our residents deserve exceptional service and we continue our commitment to deliver that to them. No matter if that is community safety, affordable housing, youth engagement, or economic growth. Remember, we find a way, care for one another, protect the world, and always go further. This is why Fayetteville proudly remains America's "Can Do" City.
