Small Business Saturday Kick-Off Breakfast
The Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday, an event to help showcase small businesses. The Blue Island Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry will kick off the morning with breakfast specials and goodie bags for the first 50 shoppers, plus drink and gaming specials at De Mars Coffee Shop. The bags will contain coupons, treats, special deals/discounts and much more. Arrive early to be sure and get your bags before you head out shopping and dining.

Join Blue Island Park District for tons of Halloween fun this October! 

Halloween Flashlight Egg Hunt
Maybe it's just the autumn leaves burning, but we'd like to think that smell is good ol' fashion energy burning, courtesy of Blue Island Park District's action-packed flashlight Halloween Hunt. Join Blue Island's bravest in a search for goodies hidden all around Memorial Park after dark. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in costume. Flashlight and bag are mandatory. Event will occur regardless of weather.
When: October 25, 7:00 p.m.

Trunk or Treat
Blue Island Park District'sTrunk or Treat is the best around! Creative participants dress up their trunks in spooky and imaginative ways and pass out candy and goodies to all the little monsters in a safe, supervised environment. Blue Island 
City Hall History & Tour
Learn about the history of City Hall with a presentation from Blue Island historian Ken Jellema, followed by a tour of the buildings that make up the complex today. The presentation will be held in City Hall's East Annex (2434 Vermont St), with the tour beginning shortly after. A suggested donation of $10 will be collected at the door, with all proceeds to benefit the Blue Island Historical Society.

Blue Island Historical Society invites you to Open Hours at the Albee House. Visit and learn more about area history, view historic artifacts and photos, and don't forget your merch money - proceeds from your purchase support Blue Island Historical Society's ongoing education and preservation initiatives.

Stout At The Devil
Rock Island Public House's Halloween celebration of rare beers returns this Friday night. For one night only, it's a dark side tap takeover, featuring the great big beers of the season. These Old Men They Play Records will be spinning on the ones and twos, and the kitchen will be hot as hades courtesy of deliciously devilish twists on pierogi.

Halloween Party Plus Andy Mead & Cookie Boyz ENT Live
Andy Mead kicks off the Halloween festivities at Natural Law Friday night with acoustic guitar and vocals that'll go perfectly with your spooky cocktail and grub. At 10:00 p.m. "The Basement II" haunted attraction officially opens for visitors and admission is just $5. Then at 11:00 p.m., Cookie Boyz ENT takes the stage before the midnight Costume Contest.

Personal Assistant Orientation
Progress Center For Independent Living is hosting a Personal Assistant Orientation for those interested in learning more about this rewarding career where you can help people with disabilities stay in their homes instead of nursing homes. All are encouraged to attend!

Concerts at the Castle Series: Sons of the Never Wrong
The Concerts at the Castle Series is a collection of live musical performances to benefit the restoration of Givins Castle. October's featured performance is by Sons of the Never Wrong, known for their three part harmonies and "literate, witty folk music." Wine, cheese, and other refreshments provided. There is a suggested $30 donation at the door.

Harvest Jam

Blue Cap 31st Annual Auction
One of Blue Cap's largest fundraisers of the year is their annual auction, and it just so happens to be one of the funnest events of the year too! Lincoln-Davis Civil War Roundtable

Blue Cap Food Pantry Information
Blue Cap offers a Food Pantry serving Blue Island and Robbins residents who provide a valid ID or piece of mail 
proving residency. The Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Collection boxes for Blue Cap's Food Pantry can be found at the Blue Island Library, 2433 York St., First Midwest Bank, 12015 S. Western Ave., Council Oak Montessori School, 2521 Grove St., John D. Rita Rec Center, 2805 141st St., and Access Family Health, 13000 Maple Ave., Blue Island, IL 60406.

They accept non-perishable food, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, disposable razors, toilet paper, tissue, laundry detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaners, disinfectant wipes, and baby diapers and wipes.
