The Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center proudly presents Shirley: Fearless. Fierce. First., an inspiring documentary that celebrates the groundbreaking legacy of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and the first to run for President of the United States.

A fearless advocate for justice, Chisholm shattered barriers and challenged the status quo, refusing to be sidelined in a political system dominated by men. This riveting film chronicles her historic 1972 presidential campaign, her unwavering commitment to civil rights, and her enduring influence on American politics.

With powerful archival footage and interviews, Shirley is more than just a biography—it’s a tribute to a woman who dared to lead, fought for equality, and paved the way for future generations.

Why This Matters—And How You Can Help

Shirley Chisholm’s story is a testament to the power of courage, conviction, and breaking boundaries. This Women’s History Month, we are honoring trailblazers like her—women whose stories deserve to be heard, remembered, and amplified.

But we need your help! Spread the word. Share this event. Bring a friend. By celebrating these remarkable women, we inspire future generations to dream boldly, speak up, and lead fearlessly.

Help us make history by sharing history. Invite your community and be part of this powerful celebration.

A short discussion will follow screening.
