Our friends at Pecel Ndeso Catering will share their love of culture and home recipes while we feast all together. Come celebrate inclusion through the lens of gender fluidity by honoring ancient traditions that challenge current rigid ideals. Indonesia has a rich history of embracing diverse gender identities in art and daily life, despite colonial and modern pressures that increased discrimination. Modero Dance Company brings these traditions to life, presenting dances from across the islands that highlight how art can create space for diverse expressions of self, reflecting a more seamless expression of gender in contrasts with our Western norms. This special evening reflects our commitment to diversity, understanding, and celebrating every voice.

Our DIASPORA COMMUNITY of IMMIGRANTS in PHILADELPHIA – A Learning Opportunity

Join us for an evening dedicated to learning from and with our local Indonesian immigrant community. We will hear from several Philadelphia residents, who will share their personal journeys from Indonesia to the U.S., shedding light on the challenges and resilience of immigrant life in today’s climate of rising intolerance. The evening also features a screening of Stitching of Hope, a moving short film that portrays how trauma, memory, and identity interweave in the immigrant experience. We are honored that the film’s director Deddy Raksawardana will join us to enrich our discussion.
