The Club
The mission of Long Beach Yacht Club is to promote yachting and competitive sportsmanship on a world-class level. The club’s premier waterfront location, yachting assets, facilities and programs make it the first choice for its families' social and recreational enjoyment. The club is situated on a prime location in Alamitos Bay, nestled on the Southern California coast between Palos Verdes Peninsula and the community of Seal Beach in Orange County. Long Beach Yacht Club is committed to creating a place you want to be by blending a friendly social environment with the variety of programs in which members and their families may participate with pride and enthusiasm.
The Opportunity
The General Manager is the principal operations executive, managing all aspects of the club services and its facility. This includes activities and relations between the club and its officers, Board of Directors, members, guests, employees, community, government and industry. The General Manger is responsible for coordinating and administering the club’s policies as defined by its Board of Directors and officers and working with the Board of Directors to develop operating policies, procedures, programs and services. The General Manager is also responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and monitoring of the club’s overall budget. Additionally, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring maximum member and guest satisfaction by consistently monitoring the quality of the club’s programs and services. The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors through the Commodore of the club.
Requirements
- Demonstrate straightforwardness, sound judgment, integrity, accountability, leadership and dedication in all actions.
- Demonstrate superb interpersonal relations skills: an accomplished and effective communicator; a competent administrator; a diplomat in dealing with member constituents; club leadership in the community; and an individual with the ability to inspire, motivate and earn the respect of the members and employees as well as the community at large.
- Effectively communicate the club’s vision, set goals and objectives, delegate to, develop, evaluate and coach the department managers and their staffs.
- Manage cross-functional teams, multi-disciplinary projects and make complex decisions in a dynamic environment in support of the club’s vision, mission and core values.
- Think strategically while meeting operational and near-term objectives.
- Possess financial aptitude commensurate with a top-level private club executive.
- Possess the capacity and ability to perform required leadership role during emergency situations.
- Travel occasionally as required.
