Video Spotlight – Pat Steir

Pat Steir works large – landscape size not window size. The acclaimed painter is known for her waterfall paintings in which she allows thinned oil paint to flow down the canvas – in black and white or in sumptuous color. With a background in publishing, Steir helped launch Printed Matter in 1976. Despite their monumentality, her works have a delicacy she learned from both Japanese and Chinese painting traditions.
