Video Spotlight – Yayoi Kusama

Japanese-born artist Yayoi Kusama arrived in the East Village in 1958. Facing hardship and prejudice as a Japanese woman in the post-war period. In the 1960s, she staged public nudist orgies in Washington Square Park, as well as organizing other outdoor happenings throughout the city.
