Principal's Points
Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

Angels Among Us is almost here. Thank you to everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this a success. Scroll down to see the winners of the school parent silent auction.

This weekend is also uniform weekend. Please have your child(ren) wear their uniforms to Mass this weekend to receive a holy card that allows them to have free dress on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Don't forget Monday is President's Day and there is no school.

February 22 - March 3 are days scheduled for Terra Nova testing. Please make every effort to bring your child to school those days and to be on time. Students who arrive late will stay in the office until the testing period has ended. If your child is on Flexible Learning, you would have received an email explaining the dates and the plans for testing.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Peace and Blessings,

Linda Umoh

The 2021-22 income-based scholarship application season is almost here and we wanted to inform you of an important update:

Both Florida Tax Credit Scholarship students AND Family Empowerment Scholarship students MUST apply to renew their student's scholarship for the 2021-22 school year when the application is available.

  • February 2021: RENEWAL students may apply.
  • Early March 2021: NEW students may apply.

Please continue to monitor your email for updates on when the income-based scholarship application will be available through Step Up For Students.

IMPORTANT:
  • Both income-based scholarships are once-in, always-in programs meaning students who received scholarship funding through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship or the Family Empowerment Scholarship for the current school year (2020-21) may be automatically eligible for a scholarship for the upcoming school year (2021-22) as long as an application is submitted for the 2021-22 school year.
  • The 2021-22 application for both income-based scholarships is the same.
  • Family Empowerment Scholarship renewing families MUST include a valid Social Security Number for all students and parents on the application.
  • Siblings added to a renewal student’s application may also be automatically eligible for an income-based scholarship. Siblings of current income-based scholarship students will receive priority over new students; however, space is limited so please submit your application as soon as possible.

For questions, email enrollment@stepupforstudents.org, or call the Service Center at 877-735-7837, Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.

Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education has gone almost all paperless. See directions below on how to download the app and start earning money for our school. It takes less than a minute to download the app and set up an account. Once your account is set up and linked to our school, it is easy and fast to scan your receipts and start earning money for the school. Some products still have the box tops on the packaging that you may cut out, save, and send into school. However, most are digital for you to scan your paper receipts. There is also a way to earn money for the school using your digital or e-receipts from grocery pickup and delivery. See below for details. Thank you!!

  1. Download the Box Tops for Education app on your phone or mobile device or at BTFE.com
  2. Create an account and find your school (St. Stephens School Riverview, FL) - this step only takes about 30 seconds!
  3. Start scanning your receipts. Tip: scan receipts while waiting in carline
  4. Yes, you can earn box tops on grocery pick up and delivery! The app has a short tutorial video showing you how to submit your emailed receipts or receipts from your retailer’s mobile app.  Forward digital receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com within 14 days of purchase. Tip: Make sure you send the receipt from the same email address that you use to sign in at BTFE.com or the Box Tops mobile app. Screenshots, attachments, or PDFs of original receipts will not process correctly. If your digital receipt is only available in your participating store’s shopping app, just forward it directly from there. For more information, go to BTFE.com/digitalreceipts.

Public Library Haal Pass
The Haal Pass allows our students to access public library resources with just their student ID number and Pin. Students will use their student ID number (from FACTS) and their password of 4321 to log into the HCPLC.org site. This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library. Students can also use this account to check out ebooks on Overdrive or Libby, the digital reader programs used by the public library.
SSCS Library Access
Students can now check out books from our school library! Students can sign into our library catalog using Destiny Discover and put books on hold. Books will be delivered to their classrooms after being checked out. Flexible learning students can have their books picked up at the front office.
