Some of this is adapted from previous newsletters about Eclipses but the dates, degrees and signs are unique to this Eclipse Season. Below I focus on eclipse season in general and the solar eclipse on February 17, 2026 in particular. I will talk about the lunar eclipse on March 3, 2026 in the March 2026 News & Views.
You will find above the dates and degrees of the solar and lunar eclipse of February 17 and March 3, with the dates of when the true node and other planets conjoin, square, or oppose the eclipse degree. The time between the Node hitting the eclipse degree and the eclipse itself (either before or after) can indicate the general life span of the eclipse. In that time, the nature of the eclipse makes itself known, and often powerful events occur on the dates when planets activate the eclipse. Look above at those dates, and the few days before or after those dates. Scroll down to see how that may affect you if the eclipse conjoins a planet, point or angle in your chart and how the house it travels through affects you. I will look at this more closely during my hybrid lecture on March 3, 2026 for the Big Apple Astrology Meetup in New York City. www.meetup.com/the-big-apple-astrology-meetup-group
To quickly review: An Eclipse/Grahaṇa (“the act of seizing or holding”), or occultation, is formed when the Sun/Sūrya or Moon/Candra is obstructed from view by a certain set of circumstances involving the Earth, Sun, and Moon. A Lunar Eclipse (eclipse of the Moon) (somagrahana) can only occur at Full Moon (Sun opposite Moon), when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon blocking the Sun’s rays from reaching all or part of the Moon. A Solar Eclipse (eclipse of the Sun) (sūryagrahaṇa) can only occur on the New Moon (Sun Moon conjunction) when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the light of the Sun. (Go to www.nasa.gov and earthsky.org for complete information about eclipses.)
Solar Eclipse on February 17, 2026. This eclipse is annular, which means that it is not quite a total eclipse, and forms a ring of fire. If you were lucky enough to view it, that is what you would have seen, which can be quite miraculous. However, this eclipse was mostly visible in Antarctica and partially visible in Argentina, Chile, and South Africa. That does not necessarily mean it will not affect you, since it still appears in your chart, though you would not have been able to see it. Of course there are astrologers who only feel it affects you if you can see it. I do think that makes it even more viable, but just as outer planets that we cannot see with the naked eye affect us, I think eclipses affect us through their position in our charts.
Though some astrologers view eclipse season from the lunation preceding the 1st eclipse to the lunation following the 2nd eclipse, I think of it from this solar eclipse on February 17 through the next lunar eclipse on March 3, though it gets activated several times by the Nodes and other planets. Because this Eclipse Season encompasses the Saturn-Neptune conjunction (2/20) and Mercury Retrograde (2/26-3/20), it is bound to be an intense time, with more impactful events than usual occurring in these two weeks.
In general, eclipse season, is always intense, dramatic, and revealing, for better or worse and often accompanies important events in the world---not always difficult but memorable. Sometimes it indicates great rises, and sometimes meteoric falls. Eclipses create energy and intensity, and although occurrences like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, other meteorological changes, plane crashes, violence, terrorist attacks, and political comings and goings are commonplace throughout the year, those that take place around an eclipse have universal impact and reverberate around the world.
As always, Eclipses bring to light secrets that were hidden. I already posted on social media that I thought Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy, who was abducted and captured our attention, might finally turn up. If your spouse or partner is having a secret love affair, or spending money on the side, it will come to light during eclipse season. If you make a business deal, or fall in love during eclipse season, be cautious since there are more things that will come to light as time passes. If you begin a relationship it is bound to have secrets attached to it so wait until a few weeks pass to declare your love. And if you thought you lost or misplaced something whether it is an object or document, it may turn up during this time. Be patient if it involves something important that was "hidden" on your computer, since it might rear its head.
Rises and falls of leaders (in politics, industry, sports, entertainment) might be in the news. The civil rights leader Jesse Jackson passed away on 2/17, the day of the eclipse, and the former Prince Andrew was arrested and released on 2/19. More Epstein files might be redacted and released at an accelerated rate, in droves and even more influential people will be exposed and resign. We have already seen corporate and academic leaders, and politicians in other countries resigning their positions due to exposure in the Epstein files. There may be politicians in the U.S. that can no longer take the heat. Stay tuned for more of this over the next two weeks and of course way beyond since this solar eclipse extends until at least October 10, 2026 when Rāhu-North Node conjoins the Eclipse degree. But the intensity of this and the repercussions might increase exponentially. Time will tell. In general all things unexpected and intense come to the surface for a greater purpose of healing personally and in the world.
This eclipse season may indicate that you have to move on from certain things in your life. This can be wonderful as well as difficult. There may be an event, or simply an internal message to get you to move forward. Eclipses are also a great time to do community service, or volunteer for an organization or charity close to your heart. Donating items you do not need but might be beneficial to others, is also a great way to honor eclipse season. Mostly take deep breaths, meditate, go inward, and reflect on everything that is good in your life, and honor the people in your life whom you love and respect.
In your chart see in which house the eclipse falls and especially if the eclipse falls on a planet, point, or angle in your chart then you will be directly affected by the eclipse. It will activate that point, bringing things to light that the planet or point represents, sometimes positively and sometimes more challenging, negatively, and for changes in your life of some degree, as if you have been awakened and something has been revealed. Something will be activated, confronted, and ultimately transformed for better or worse. Because this eclipse is annular, and not total, this is a slow burn, meaning that it can take 8 months until Rāhu-North Node crosses the eclipse degree on October 10, 2026. (What follows is how the solar eclipse affects your chart personally.)
Read if you use sidereal Indian astrology. If you have a planet, point, or angle in your chart close to the degree of the Solar Eclipse, Sidereal 4° Aquarius 42' (I like to take a one-two degree orb), between now and October 10th, when Rāhu conjoins that eclipse degree, the following will be transformed by recognizing something that you have to aspire to, since it will be within sight, and will be calling you obsessively. Whatever goal that has to be reached, will be something that will take you to a different level of evolution and self-awareness, that you can use for yourself and others. This is in general what will be affected if the eclipse hits these planets and angle, either by conjunction, square, trine, or opposition.
Sun. power, vigor; Moon. maternal, mind; Mars. strength, courage; Mercury. speech, learning; Jupiter. knowledge, wealth; Venus. love, happiness; Saturn. sorrow, fear, Rahu. intensity, compulsion; Ketu. extremes, spirituality; Lagna. destiny, vitality. If you want to use Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and other angles, you can look below at tropical Western astrology for their keywords.
The bhava (house) of the Solar Eclipse is where sidereal Aquarius is located. Between now and October 10th, the area of life represented by that bhava will also be transformed by recognizing what area you need to push ahead in even though you might be resistant. It is an area that requires hard work and discipline, but one in which you will be compelled to move towards. If you do not know which house sidereal Aquarius occupies, just count from your lagna (rising sign or ascendant), or Moon, or even your Sun. General descriptions for bhavas (houses) are as follows:
1. appearance, destiny, temperament, personality, constitution; 2. Money, family life, food, speech, early childhood; 3. Siblings, Fine arts, courage, desires; 4. Mother, happiness, real estate, vehicles; 5. Children, romance, investments, speculation; 6. Open enemies, work, competition, obstacles, illness; 7. Marriage, partners, contracts, passion; 8.
