Greetings!
For this week’s message, I want to bring you a Dream It, Be It recap. This signature SIA program is put on locally by SI Chico and SI Bidwell Rancho. We are looking forward to our first one-day conference this year. The date of the one-day conference is Saturday, April 9, 2022, and we already have 20 sign ups! It is set up for 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Chico Women’s Club. Registration for the event can be found at:
Here’s what you need to know. Dream It, Be It targets girls in high school who face obstacles to their future success. As facilitators of this program, our clubs give girls access to goal setting, mentors and professional role models, career education and resources to achieve and live their dreams. We provide resource to overcome obstacles and handle stress and setbacks. SI Chico is responsible for moderating sessions two, four, and six. SI Bidwell Rancho moderates sessions one, three, and five. Together our clubs put on session seven – Putting Dreams Into Action.
Now, here’s what I need you to do. Session Two – Exploring Careers – is covered (thanks, Bonnie!). We still need a moderator for Session Four – Rising Above Obstacles – and a moderator for Session Six – Balancing Your Stress. The material is already written and most of it is already modified for our delivery. I, personally, really enjoyed delivering session six last year over zoom to our Fairview High School students.
We also need donations for our goody bags that the girls get at registration. Do you have any goodies? There will also be a social hour between 9 and 10 am as the girls arrive at Chico Women’s Club. We need three ‘vendors’ to set up a table of things like hair styles, nails, jewelry, handmade cards, or something similar to engage the girls in activities. If you are interested or know someone who might be able to set up a ‘vendor’ table for social hour, let me know.
We also have plenty of volunteer opportunities the day of that don’t include leading a session. Click this link to sign up for other duties that day:
Of course, there are other ways to help. Send me an email or text if you want to help out.
Enjoy your committee meetings this week. See you next week.
President Sara

Governor Sarah's Message
Hello,
We are going to celebrate being together like never before. Everything I want to say, is in the Call to Conference, no need to repeat myself. The links to the Agenda and the Call to the 6th Board Meeting of the Biennium as well as to register for conference, are below.
Call to Conference, April 1 – 3, 2022, IN PERSON at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada, click here. Registration is open, click here. Click here to make your room reservation.
Call to the 6th Board Meeting of the 2020-2022 Biennium, click here. Tentative Agenda for the 6th Board Meeting of the 2020-2022 Biennium, click here.
I have to say it has been very trying for me, I had mapped out a virtual conference because our state reverted back to wearing mask, then I was going back and forth, but now I am happy that I decided to go with an in-person event, especially since both the State of Nevada and the State of California have released the indoor mask wearing mandate. I want everyone to be comfortable, so do what is best for you. I look forward to mingling in person with all of you.
Best,
Governor Sarah

Catalyst Wish List
Catalyst (one of our Hands-On projects) has asked us to help with bed linens (sheets, pillows, and blankets) for twin beds, any color or pattern is fine. We encourage white because, if soiled, they can be bleached.
There are 3 ways to participate:
· There will be a bag or box behind the lunch table for your gently used linens or hair supplies until the March 2 Business Meeting
· Call or email Carolyn if you need items picked up
Monetary donations:
· A check or cash donation is always useful. These will be pooled to purchase twin bed sheet sets. Make checks out to SI Chico. There will be an envelope near the collection bag.
They also requested shampoo, conditioner, hair accessories. Please no travel sizes.
Thanks for your assistance!!

February Fur Baby and Member of the Month - Audrey & Jeanne Smith
If you don’t know me yet, I’m Jeanne Smith and I really enjoy being a Soroptimist! This year, 2022 will be my 5th year; and it has been eventful! I’ve met so many new friends and been involved in so many ways to help our community! I even was able to bring dresses with me to a school in Africa! Every member is unique and gives their best to our goals.
I grew up in Orange County CA, but have been in Paradise and Chico for 47 years! So this is home. I have 2 kids of my own and my husband Don brought 2 more into my life. We share 3 amazing and driven grandchildren. We also share our home with a 3 year old, “Golden Girl” feline “Fur Baby” named Audrey! I enjoy traveling, and have been fortunate to have seen much of the world. Also, I like to gamble, any party is good, gardening, cooking, reading and believe it or not. LAUNDRY!
Here’s a little about our darling “Fur Baby”, meet Audrey!
She came to our family as a lost 5 week old Orange Tabby. It actually was the same day as the Camp Fire started! Our granddaughter Kristin and fiancé Chris found her hiding under a car on the CSUC campus. Her’s is the classic rags to riches story, she was so dirty when the kids found her; they thought she was a Gray Tabby, but a bath revealed bright orange fur. She is special in many ways, but mainly in the fact that she is a girl, only 20% of orange cats are female! I know right?
Audrey loves to sport seasonal collars, play with her toys, especially her unicorn that requires human interaction, hanging out in her cat tree which allows her to keep an eye on her “squirrel friends” and the birdies, treats and following us around the house and yard. She listens carefully when we talk to her and responds with a knowing meow. She loves her people whom she sleeps between every night, humans who come to visit, and 2 dogs Sid and Daisy.

Dress a Girl .....…. We plan to get together at Cathy’s Sew&Vac as soon as it’s safe (those nights are so fun & productive!), but with the recent wave of Covid in Butte County, we feel it would be safer to start by individually making some dresses at home.
Let’s get started!
Please let us know how many dress kits you’d like (or if you have supplies to make them on your own, we can send you the instructions).
If you have extra fabric to donate to this worthwhile project (or if you know any seamstresses/quilters), they are always welcomed!
