Welcome to Hearts Month.
We all immediately think of Valentines Day, however, February is American Heart Association month and the National Be Kindness month. It is a time to express to those you love an extra hug or thank you and to those less fortunate to go out of your way to show some kindness. We all get so wrapped up in our own lives that it is easy to miss what others might need, often just a kind word.
The shop has been getting shipments of new yarn and refilling your favorites. We received a new yarn by Cascade. MariKesh, 80% merino and 20% cashmere in a dk weight. We received Kathmandu in chunky, in lots of yummy colors. It would be great for hats or a nice cardigan. Of course a favorite, Dream in Colors Pop Up color of the month.
We are now carrying some delightful earrings made by Melany, a local artist. They are all fiber oriented in knit and crochet designs. Be sure to take a look.
Knit Wits has been hopping on Wednesdays. The long established Synagogue group moved here on Wednesdays. It is so delightful to see these familiar faces and hear their stories. Welcome. We still have lots of room on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Saturdays are busy but there is always room for more.
I have begun two new projects. Both are cardigans by Woolfolk. I started the Silesian, a very textured knit design. I will be working on that at home as I need to focus on a very detailed stitch design. I am using Woolfolk Tov, their smooth dk which should be perfect for the detail. The other cardigan is the Havandring. It is not a textured stitch but rather contemporary style using different size rectangles with intarsia color technique. It is interlocking the yarns so that it is an uninterrupted change of color. I have used this method on several items and find it not difficult to do.
Hope you all have a lovely Hearts month and come on by.
