Monthly Tourism Webinar
The Wyoming Office of Tourism is continuing the monthly webinar series which focuses on topics that directly affect Wyoming Partners. The monthly webinar will take place the third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. The webinars will last approximately 45-minutes but may vary depending on the topics. To maintain flexibility and consistency, we will be announcing each month’s topic during the Monthly Industry Call.

As mentioned on the industry call, February’s topic in the series will be: 2021 Travel Content Trends. From creating countless virtual experiences to constantly readjusting your messaging, this past year has posed many challenges for content creators. But with each challenge, we learned to be adaptable and creative with our digital content strategy. Moving into 2021, we will lean on what we’ve learned, while expanding on emerging content trends. Join the Wyoming Office of Tourism’s Brand Studio team for a 45-minute webinar on 2021 best practices for video, photography, social media and editorial, and how to start implementing each on your own channels.

We ask that everyone interested in joining please RSVP through this RSVP Link or directly through the Industry Site. It is also very important to ask any questions you may have on the upcoming topics in advance of building the presentation. So, please click here to provide your questions prior to the webinar.

Small Business Cybersecurity: Feb 25
Free Webinar
Where does the internet service provider’s responsibility end and mine begin?

“We live in a world that has more dependency on the Internet than ever before, accelerated by a global pandemic. This webinar provides a perfect avenue to openly discuss challenges and concerns that will lead to a better understanding of individual roles and responsibilities of the business and ISP as related to hardware and software applications,” said speaker and Network Manager Jason Jenkins of Silver Star Communications.

Small businesses without technical help, often do not understand the equipment installed by the ISP and its purpose. Many just assume that it includes firewall protections. The webinar is designed to combat this assumption.

Federal, state, and local governments spend millions of dollars every year to purchase products and services from small businesses in Wyoming. Many entrepreneurs aren’t taking advantage of this potential market which is constantly on the lookout for food, clothing, construction services, and now, items and services related to COVID-19. The 2021 GRO-Biz Conference is the best chance of the year in our state to learn everything there is to know about government contracting.

While the format looks a bit different from previous years, the conference still promises to deliver a robust offering of matchmaking, networking, and learning opportunities for Wyoming’s small businesses. Whether you are new to the idea of selling your goods or services to the government or you have been working in contracting for years.

Brooks Lake Lodge Offers Reservation-only Winter Lunch to the Public
Local favorite to serve gourmet snow-season lunches with new guidelines in historic hall

Brooks Lake Lodge’s popular winter lunch will open to outdoor adventurers enjoying Wyoming’s snowy back country. Lunch in the historic Great Hall will be available for limited capacity by advance reservation.

Locals and visitors can still enjoy a day trip of snowmobiling, snowshoeing or even fat biking the snowy road that leads to Brooks Lake Lodge for lunch this winter; however, they will need to make a reservation. While typically the lodge is open to the public for winter lunches on a first-come, first-served basis, to continue to put the safety of staff and guests first, the lodge will host a limited number of reservation-only daily lunch guests for this year’s December 20, 2020 – March 15, 2021, season.

Always a popular way to spend a winter day in Wyoming! Each winter season, the lodge enjoys serving its daytime guests a well-earned, hearty lunch while offering riders the comfort of warming up by one of the lodge’s giant crackling fires before heading back out to enjoy the snowy backcountry terrain. Continuing that tradition is important to the lodge, and they are asking for daytime lunch guests to call in advance at 307-455-2121 to reserve space for their party, so that the lodge can maintain a limited amount of people indoors at a time.

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available to Wyoming Small Businesses

Small nonfarm businesses in nine Wyoming counties and neighboring counties in Idaho, Montana, South Dakota and Utah are now eligible to apply for low‑interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in the following primary counties that began Oct. 6, 2020.

Primary Wyoming counties: Crook, Lincoln and Sublette;
Neighboring Wyoming counties: Campbell, Fremont, Sweetwater, Teton, Uinta and Weston;
Neighboring Idaho counties:  Bear Lake, Bonneville and Caribou;
Neighboring Montana counties:  Carter and Powder River;
Neighboring South Dakota counties:  Butte and Lawrence;
Neighboring Utah county: Rich.

“SBA eligibility covers both the economic impacts on businesses dependent on farmers and ranchers that have suffered agricultural production losses caused by the disaster and businesses directly impacted by the disaster,” Garfield said.

Small nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size may qualify for Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $2 million to help meet financial obligations and operating expenses which could have been met had the disaster not occurred.

“Eligibility for these loans is based on the financial impact of the disaster only and not on any actual property damage. These loans have an interest rate of 3 percent for businesses and 2.75 percent for private nonprofit organizations, a maximum term of 30 years and are available to small businesses and most private nonprofits without the financial ability to offset the adverse impact without hardship,” Garfield said.

By law, SBA makes Economic Injury Disaster Loans available when the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture designates an agricultural disaster. The Secretary declared this disaster on Dec. 17, 2020.

Businesses primarily engaged in farming or ranching are not eligible for SBA disaster assistance. Agricultural enterprises should contact the Farm Services Agency about the U.S. Department of Agriculture assistance made available by the Secretary’s declaration. However, nurseries are eligible for SBA disaster assistance in drought disasters.

Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected] for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Individuals who are deaf or hard‑of‑hearing may call (800) 877-8339. Completed applications should be mailed to U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

The deadline to apply for economic injury is Aug. 17, 2021.
