SI Chico E-blast news & more
Feb. 18, 2020 | Volume 20 Issue 27
Message from President
Carrie Pavis
Greetings!
This week will be another busy week for our Soroptimist group. Monday is our board meeting, Tuesday is Dress a Girl sewing fun at Cathy’s Sew and Vac, and Wednesday we start giving out some of our Scholarships, this is why we work so hard to raise money.

Joyce has sent out the information on the Poppy Walk. I hope many of you will join me and my Presidents project. I will have posters and flyers at club on Wednesday and was hoping that SI Chico can put them up at different businesses.

We still have two scholarships available for Sierra Nevada Conference in Reno on April 24th, 25th, and 26th. Come have fun while learning about Soroptimist as an International Organization. If you are interested at all, please talk to me about it, I would love to give you more information about it.

I'm looking forward to the busy week, and it’s great to be a Soroptimist.

President,

Let's Take The Train to the SIA Convention Update

Reasons to Take The Train
  1. Recommended by SIA Convention Committee
  2. Breathtaking Scenic Views
  3. Fun and Affordable
  4. No matter what, you’ll have a day of travel...why not do it the relaxing way?

Where are we as a group so far?
  • Governor Lane and I are booked. We’ve decided to book Business Class for our trip to the SIA Convention. She will depart the train station in Sacramento, and I’ll get on in Chico.
  • It’s not too late. Go to Amtrak.com and make your reservation on the Coast Starlight, to arrive on Tuesday, July 21st. I will be returning by train, Business Class, on Sunday, July 26th.
  • We’ll make a dinner reservation for the early seating. The Coast Starlight has a dining car, the famous Sightseer Lounge Car with floor to ceiling windows, and a club car.
  • Book a room for Tuesday night at the SIA Convention Venue. Use our Soroptimist Convention code to receive the discount. We’ve found this is a fabulous deal; likely the best in Bellevue.
