Dear Cholla Residents,
The deadline is quickly approaching for residents to provide input in updating the Glendale Transportation Plan. This plan helps guide where Glendale invests in streets, sidewalks, bike facilities, and transit to best meet the needs of residents, business, and visitors. It also ensures future projects are well-coordinated, funded, and focused on creating a transportation system that works for everyone. By sharing your experiences and ideas, you help decide what projects rise to the top and how Glendale invests in its future transportation system. No one knows the city's streets better than the people who use them every day. I encourage you to take the online survey and also add markers to map areas where it's difficult to get around Glendale. The survey closes on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Tax season has arrived, and Vice Mayor Malnar and I are sponsoring a Shred Event on Saturday, April 4, 7 AM - 9 AM (or until the trucks are full). Glendale residents are welcome to bring up to 5 boxes of paper to shred to the Foothills Library parking lot. The Fire Department will also be available to collect batteries for recycling. See the flyer further down in this newsletter for all the details of this community event.
Speaking of taxes, the Glendale City Council recently reviewed property tax results from previous fiscal years at the Jan. 27 Council Workshop, and for the 11th year in a row, the Council arrived at the consensus not to raise primary or secondary tax levies. In fact, the City has reduced taxes over the last 11 years. The City of Glendale's combined property tax rate has decreased gradually from about 2.19% in FY16 to about 1.45% moving into FY26.
