D&K at Portugal Print
Mourão Serra - D&K’s Distributor in Portual - will be showcasing the Neptune PB at this year’s event.   The company was established in 1980 and has been working with D&K for many years supplying both our machines and consumables.

The exhibition will be held in Lisbon from 15th to 17th March with over 10,000 m2 of floor space and over 75 exhibitors. Around 12,000 visitors are expected to walk through the doors over the 3 days.

Having had its official launch at IPEX last year the Neptune PB is already proving to be a success with photobook applications. The PB stands for “photobook” where, because of the photographic nature of these books, an identical finish is needed on both sides of the print. Laminating one side against the heated chrome roller and the other side against a rubber nip roller, the way that double-sided laminators had traditionally worked, doesn’t achieve this and so our PB format laminators are designed with twin laminating stations, the first with a conventional heated chrome roller above a rubber nip and the second, an inverted version with the rubber nip above a heated chrome roller.
Diamond Hard Velvet Matt
D & K Europe is continuing to roll out the Diamond Hard Velvet Matt coated products developed and produced by D & K Group in Illinois, USA.

This coating is, as the name implies, a hard, scuff resistant non-reflective coating with a pleasing feel to it.

For some years we have marketed the Polyester films (with standard resin) in 75, 125 and 250 micron - under the name Ultra Matt, in contrast to SoluS Matt films which have a sheen to them, and, following improvements to the integrity and consistency of the coating, these are proving very successful.

We have also stocked and sold Nylon (38/42 micron with standard resin) for some time; the use of Nylon to laminate paperback book covers – long popular in USA - is growing in Europe. This gauge of Nylon needs to be separated by a knife rather than by burster, hence the development of the Europa FK (which is shortly to go through beta testing).

We are hoping to introduce Superstick versions of these in the Polyester and Nylon Diamond Hard finishes in the near future.

We now have a limited quantity of OPP Diamond Hard Velvet Matt, both with standard resin and with Superstick.

Additionally, we have a small amount of this OPP with a variation of Superstick specifically developed for issues with Indigo prints.
