February 26 Quarterly Meeting to Review Recommendations on National Pilot
MBUFA Members to Review Findings of National Pilot Symposium Held Last November

On February 26, MBUFA Members will gather in Washington D.C. to review the findings of the National Symposium on a National Pilot held at the National Press Club November 15 and 16, 2018.

The effort will consolidate for federal policy leaders the recommendations that has been requested of MBUFA on this issue as we move toward legislation this spring that is expected to include language on this issue. MBUFA Members are expected to receive the general recommendations from National Pilot Chair, Dr. Adrian Moore, in mid February.  

Please join us in this critical meeting in making final recommendations on this issue to federal policy leaders.

The meeting will be held at the MBUFA Offices.

What Are The States Considering on MBUF in 2019:
The issue of mileage based fees is springing up in many legislative bodies this year. Hear from leading experts on the issue from both the National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Governor's Association on what they see for the future on this issue. Ben Husch from NCSL and Garrett Eucalitto from NGA will discuss what they are predicting both Governors and State Legislatures may headed.
A Factual Comparison of the Rural vs Urban Issue for MBUF:
Dr. Stephen Fitzroy from EDR Group in Boston, MA will provide his findings for the paper "Effects of Mileage-Based User Fees on Urban and Rural Households" that was commissioned by RUC West earlier this year. This is information that will provide statistical background to a key issue for MBUF.
Research Factors for White Paper Call to Congress to Conduct a National VMT Pilot:
Dr. Krisztina Pusok from The American Consumer Group, a not for profit research organization in Washington, D.C. will provide the research background that brought their organization to ask Congress for a National Pilot for VMT.

Chairman DeFazio Calls for National VMT Pilot
In one of his first statements upon assuming the Chairmanship of the U.S House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee earlier this year, Chairman DeFazio called for a National Opt In VMT Pilot for the United States. He also noted he hopes the Pilot to be included in legislation expected this spring.
