I am thrilled to share with you the exciting news that our long-awaited building renovation is officially underway in collaboration with Designs for Dignity! This transformative project marks a significant milestone for CASA Lake County, and we cannot wait to see the positive impact it will have on our ability to serve our community.
Over the years, our organization has grown, and so has our need for an updated and rejuvenated space to better support our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
In partnership with Designs for Dignity, a non-profit organization specializing in transforming spaces for other non-profits, we are embarking on a journey to create an environment that reflects the compassion and dedication we bring to our mission. Designs for Dignity shares our belief in the power of dignified spaces to positively impact individuals and communities, and we are excited to collaborate with them on this meaningful project.
The renovation will encompass various areas of our facility, including our offices, meeting spaces, and communal areas. The goal is not only to enhance the aesthetics but also to optimize functionality, creating a more efficient and welcoming space for everyone involved with CASA.
We are SO excited about the positive changes ahead and grateful for the opportunity to continue making a difference in the lives of children in need. You can see a few pictures below, and we can't wait to keep you updated on this process!

Men's Mixer at Hello Folks
|
|
In late January, CASA volunteers Mike M. and Randy T. attended Hops & Hustle, a men’s mixer at Hello Folks in Fox Lake, organized by the Chain O' Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Only 10% of our volunteer advocates are male, and 49% of the children we serve are male. Boys in foster care benefit greatly from having a positive male role model and advocate by their side. CASA Lake County is in search of more male volunteers so attending networking and outreach events like this is a great way to expand our reach.
If you know someone that would make a great CASA volunteer, or you know of a networking opportunity please reach out to lpetersen@casalakecounty.com.

Thank You to Bill and Cindee Dietz and The Heartland Children's Foundation!
|
|
Bill and Cindee Dietz were first introduced to CASA by the late Sam Kessler -- CASA Lake County Board Member and Treasurer, who invited Bill and his wife to an annual Gala. Bill and Cindee were touched by the heartfelt stories told by young people whose lives were benefited by having a CASA advocate, and made their first donation to CASA that same night. That was over 20 years ago.
Since then, Bill and Cindee have continued to support CASA, first through Heartland Produce and as of more recently, through the Heartland Children’s Foundation. When asked what has motivated them to continue giving, Bill said "I feel that investing in children is the best investment we can make. Supporting programs that give children access to health care, nutrition, education, and a safe environment all fit into that. CASA does a huge service to children who get caught up in the foster care system and need an advocate. The Heartland Children’s Foundation was created with those objectives in mind."
Thank you so much, Bill and Cindee, and the Heartland Children's Foundation for the continued support. We are deeply grateful to your commitment to positively improving the lives of children who have faced abuse or neglect.

Kudos for Some Amazing CASA Volunteers!

To CASA Vanessa for her steadfast advocacy for her CASA youth through reunification with family. Amidst many challenges associated with returning home, Vanessa offered emotional support and validation to her CASA youth, supporting and empowering her in advocating for her needs. With the case recently closing, Vanessa and her CASA youth plan to remain in touch because of the strong relationship they built while the case was open.

To CASA Sarah for getting her CASA child enrolled in preschool. Sarah has been an incredible source of support to the caregiver and the child’s biological mother in her CASA case, ensuring they understand the school enrollment process and bridging communication to prevent educational disruption for her CASA child. Her CASA child is now thriving in school.

To CASA's Jeff and Susan on the ongoing advocacy they provide to their CASA children. The children and their foster parents have confided in Jeff and trusted him to help navigate some very difficult situations. In meetings, Jeff has consistently voiced opinions regarding the best interests of the children, even if they differed from the agency, as he has been on the case for almost seven years. Susan has had consistent communication with the foster parents of her CASA child, and she has been a source of encouragement and stability for them, as the case took a turn in a different direction.
