Cholla District Weekly Update
February 27, 2026
| | | |
Dear Cholla Residents,
Enjoy this weekend's beautiful weather by spending some time at the Folk & Heritage Festival at Sahuaro Ranch Historic Park on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1, from 10 AM to 5 PM each day. The festival will celebrate folk traditions and cultural heritage from across the region and beyond. Come and see hundreds of performers across seven stages, representing a wide range of musical, dance, and storytelling traditions.
| | |
There will also be interactive workshops, artisan and cultural vendors, hands-on activities for all ages, and a carefully curated lineup of food trucks serving diverse local flavors.
During the Festival, Glendale will host a Plein Air painting competition. The outdoor competition is open to artists 18 years of age or older who paint using the Plein Air technique in oil, watercolor acrylic or pastel. All artists must bring their own materials and register prior to the event. Winners selected by the City Council will receive $1,000 for first place, $700 for second place, and $400 for third place. One Heritage Award winner will also be selected and awarded $1,000. I look forward to attending and judging this unique event. It's exciting to see artistic interpretations of outdoor spaces within Glendale.
