A Note from Pastor Lana
To the members & friends of First Presbyterian Church of Glen Cove:

Join me in praying for a world where pain and fear are abundant.

As we witness Ukraine's invasion, Christ have mercy.

As we hear reports of Texas' and other states' anti-transgender legislation gaining momentum, Lord have mercy.

As we read about Flordia's "Don't Say Gay Bill" passing in their House of Representatives, Christ have mercy.

As we face uncertainties in our daily lives, Lord have mercy.

As we continue to deal with the pandemics of Covid-19 and racism, Christ have mercy.

Help us to be a people who are gentle as doves and discerning as serpents. May we be a people of extravagant welcome to the outcast, the forgotten, and the wounded. May we be a people who follow your way in our church and our lives today.

Friends, may the peace of Christ be with you all.

Peace,
Pastor Lana (she/her)

Congregational Meeting:

Join us in person or on Zoom as we get reports from our different committees and continue to explore the question of how and where the church wants to keep growing as a community of faith.
Black History Month

What a gift it has been this month to consider how Black History Month can impact our faith as individuals and as a predominantly-white church. bell hooks' "all about love" has provided good conversation and intertwined with our weekly explorations of Scripture. We continue to traverse the selections from "A Women's Lectionary for the Whole Church: Year W" by Rev. Wilda Gafney, PhD, a Black feminist scholar of the Hebrew Scriptures. We look forward to continuing to incorporate Black voices into our spiritual practices as a church community, including our celebrations of Women's History Month just around the corner in March.
Communication
Manager's Report

We've been having a lot of fun sharing mini-discipleship moments on both FPC's and Glenwood Table's social media pages (links below). We also have begun posting discussion questions and short videos from Lana in our church's Facebook group - join it if you haven't already by clicking here!

Glenwood Table's pages have been focused on the weekly podcast episodes entitled "Lectionary in a Human Voice"; group theology conversations about relevant topics for 21st-century Christianity; Lana's "Sunday Love" reflections; and a line-by-line exploration of the Apostles' Creed. FPC's pages have been focusing on LGBTQIA+/open and affirming topics, as well as quotes from Sunday sermons and information about special events coming up.

I can't wait to see you if you choose to come during the afternoon for "Ashes to Go", as well as at two of the "Spiritual Practices for the Lenten Journey" sessions. With gratitude, Emmie
