To spread extra love this month, we partnered with the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton to host our annual Valentine's Open House where our customers could pick out free coats, clothing, shoes, personal care items, and household products.

In February, we distributed 44,620 meals and assisted 18 local families with essential home utilities, gaps in rent, or emergency shelter. We continue to see an unprecedented need for food support and financial assistance. Your unwavering support ensures our community members are seen and have the support they need to get through.

In the month of February, we had 1379 visits to our food pantry, this is 484 more visits than we had last February and 879 more than February 2022. We have provided nearly 100,000 meals worth of food to our community already this year. That's more than we had done in January, February, and March of last year. We are receiving nearly 50,000 lbs. worth of food a month and in between deliveries our shelves are empty.

As you can see, we need more food than ever before, which is why we continue to need YOUR support.

Families can receive at least $700 a month in food support from our pantry. We distribute real, delicious, and nutritious food. Together, every Wednesday and Friday, we distributed to each family a bag of non-perishables, fruits and vegetables from HAPCO Farms, dairy products, and frozen meat to those who need it most. Thank you to our partners Long Island Cares and Island Harvest who help us provide much of the food our neighbors depend on!

Over the past two weeks, we provided a 4th bag of groceries for families to celebrate Valentine's Day with a box of chocolates and a fun baking kit to do with their children. We gave extra kid-friendly food while the kids were home on Winter Break. We made sure that 398 students who rely on school meals had enough ready-to-eat food at home.

Your gifts allow our customers to put healthy food on the table week after week. Thank you for loving our neighbors!

This month, we hosted our annual Valentine's Day Open House for our customers to pick out free clothing, coats, shoes, and personal care items. We also provided them with one-on-one assistance applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

We are doing all we can to support children, adults, and seniors in need. Providing resources and wrap-around services for our clients is so important. Our families are struggling to make ends meet while our seasonal economy is at its lowest.

Many of our clients are unemployed or underemployed this time of year. If you work somewhere that needs additional help, please reach out to us to learn about our client job board. You can email molly@heartofthehamptons.org with any opportunities.

We are able to be a crucial safety net and helping hand thanks to donors like you. Thank you for loving our neighbors!

HELP SOMEONE IN NEED

All winter thanks to an anonymous donor and Susan Burke and Zoe Kamitses' generosity, we partner with Catena’s Market to deliver hot meals to seniors. Each week we provide a delicious ready-to-enjoy meal for seniors and their caregivers. In addition, we give a hearty frozen soup provided by the Southampton Town Kiwanis Club, for an additional meal during the week. The delivery also serves as a warm check-in for a lonely senior from one of our loving volunteers.

A big thank you to Carol Gilbert for volunteering to run this program and Bruce McGowin, Gary Aldrich, Carl DeRiso, Tim Bishop, Jane Finalborgo, and Bobby and Alice Flynn for volunteering to deliver the meals.
