Black History Month Joy Fest

Saturday, February 15, 1:00 PM

1st Floor Social Hall


1:00 PM - Lyrical Joy

Opening and Black History Month message by Mayor Eddie Flores. Hosted by J. R. Rice, MC, spoken word artist, teacher, and author of Broken Pencils. Musical selections by BB Brown, singer, song writer and composer, with spoken word by Briana Grogan.


2:00 PM - Play Joy

All ages are invited to a screening of the short film, Hair Love (2019), followed by double-dutch, hopscotch, clothespin people craft, and a food tasting from SSF's own Flavas Jamaican Grill.

Repair-inclined neighbors will meet in the Makerspace to informally troubleshoot, disassemble, and diagnose broken things together. Carry-in only, no oversize items, please. Sewing machines will also be available so feel free to bring your fabric and textile items for possible mending.


Drop-ins are welcome but it often helps if you let us know in advance what you’re bringing by filling out this form in advance.

French Conversation Group

Join us for Chair Yoga class, designed for seniors but open to all 18 and up. Taught by Aditi Sharma, a certified RYT-200 instructor, this class is tailored to offer gentle, accessible yoga practices that promote mobility, flexibility, and well-being.


No prior yoga experience is required, and all levels of fitness are welcome.


Classes are capped at 20 participants. Please arrive early; doors close by 1 p.m.

Day of Remembrance Film Screening: Kintsukuroi

Kintsukuroi (2024) follows members of the Ito family from their pre-war life in San Francisco's Japantown to the concentration camps of the American West to the battlefields of Europe as they struggle to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.
