Dear Ones,
It’s Thursday, the second week of February as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as the church building is closed for gatherings.

I have been working on liturgies for Lent for both our traditional and contemporary services. In some ways it seems like we have been in the Lenten season for 11 months now. We have wandered through the wilderness of the pandemic: feeling the deprivation of not being able to worship together in our sanctuary, fasting from taking communion, missing the hugs and the fellowship that is such an integral part of our faith community. We hunger for that human connection. But there does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Vaccinations are becoming available; I am scheduled for my first one this coming Sunday morning at the YRMC site at the Sears store in the mall. Although we are weary, we are staying the course. If you need any help with getting your vaccinations scheduled, please let us know in the church office, we have some folks who will help you walk through that! We are so blessed that we have each other during this uncertain time and that God has accompanied us on this journey as well. Thank you all for doing such a good job of loving each other and your neighbors!

I am praying and planning for our first outdoor worship to happen the last Sunday in March for Palm Sunday! We anticipate meeting at 1:00 p.m. again, since it will be warmer in the afternoon. I am keeping my eye on the weather; it would be wonderful to be physically together in some fashion for Easter.

The church has purchased Lenten Devotional booklets for each family. I think it will be great to know that we are all reading the devotions at the same time as we travel this Lenten Journey together. Please stop by the church to pick one up if you can, it will save us the postage! Also a new photo phone directory is in the works. We hope to have it available by the end of the month.

Lent begins next week. Ash Wednesday is February 17 and we will offer both a recorded service on YouTube and a Zoom worship with communion at 7:00 p.m. Following our Lenten tradition, beginning Wednesday, February 24, I hope you will join me on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. to share Holden Evening Prayer on Zoom, including communion. Using a text from the 2021 Lenten Devotions booklet, this will be a time of meditation and prayer. We will send out the Zoom invitation early next week.

The Tuesday 10:00 a.m. Women’s Bible Study group will read Forgiveness: A Lenten Study by Marjorie Thompson, starting Tuesday, February 16 for a six-week study. The book is available through Amazon. Please let Pr. Tricia know if you would like to participate or you need help ordering the book. The Zoom invite for the meeting will be in the daily email beginning Friday or let Pr. Tricia know and she will send you one.

We still do not have a Treasurer. If you know of someone (including yourself) who might be qualified, please contact Pr. Tricia or council President, Julie Pavri. We can’t leave this position vacant; we absolutely must find someone to fill this position. If you have been a manager in a company or agency and can balance your checkbook, you have the skills for this job! Gary Coe has streamlined all the reports and we are in a very good financial position, so there has never been a better time to take on this job. Gary is willing to show you the ropes. We may need to think outside the box on this: how about two folks taking on the task?

The plastic bin that used be outside the church front doors has gone missing. Does anyone know anything about this? It held the Christ in our Home devotionals, some wooden crosses and some other booklets and pamphlets. We are putting out a new one, but we would love to get our materials back!

Please check the following links to explore your COVID-19 vaccination options. Remember that website traffic can be quite heavy during the day, so making an appointment in the evening seems be easier.

|
If you are having problems getting an appointment scheduled, please let Pr. Tricia know and we will see if we can get you some assistance!

A Bible verse for today:
Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.
