Weekly Update - February 12, 2021
Happy Lunar New Year!
Where and When You Can Get Vaccinated
Visit the Contra Costa County Health Services Distribution Phases page to see if you are in an eligible tier. This page is updated regularly as more groups are added to the eligibility list. Many Contra Costa County residents will be immunized by their own healthcare providers and retail pharmacies, not at clinics set up by the county. If you have a health provider, they are part of the plan. Ask how they will notify patients, and how you can stay informed.

There are several options for getting vaccinated. To find out where, and which location works best for you go to get vaccinated.

Click here to request a vaccine appointment.

Please do not visit a clinic unless you have an appointment. CCHS has a process for providing leftover or unanticipated doses of vaccine to residents who have requested appointments. Visit our distribution phases for information about eligibility and the chart below for how to request an appointment.

Also providing vaccinations is the State-operated OptumServe Clinic in Walnut Creek. The clinic is only scheduling appointments for those 65 or older, but is open to all Contra Costa County residents. It is located at Tice Valley Community Gym, 2055 Tice Valley Boulevard, Walnut Creek. The hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. To schedule an appointment: click here, or call 844-421-0804.

County Tier Metrics
Contra Costa County remains in the purple tier. The most recent 7 days are not used for calculation because that data is still being reported. To go into the Red Tier, which allows for additional school openings and more activities, we will need to reach 7 or fewer cases per 100,000 and less than an 8% Positivity Rate for tests both Countywide and using our Equity Metric. Although our numbers continue to improve, the COVID virus is still very prevalent in our community. Please continue to be vigilant in following local health orders and recommendations.

K - 6 School Reopening
Many school districts have begun in person instruction for K-6 Schools. Middle and High Schools can begin reopening when we reach the Red Tier, which requires us to be below 7 cases per 100,000 and less than 8% of COVID tests being positive. To learn more about schools reopening, click here. A new Safe Schools for All Map shows which schools and districts are now open.
Churches May Resume Indoor Services at 25% Capacity
Last Friday, on February 5th, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered California to allow indoor worship services but said the State could restrict capacity to 25% and ban singing and chanting to slow the spread of COVID. Contra Costa does not plan to add any additional prohibitions or restrictions.

The state continues to urge houses of worship and congregants to take extra precautions and to follow health and safety protocols from CDPH and local health departments.  Guidelines for Places of Worship can be found here.

The state also urges seniors and other persons with chronic medical conditions, and those living with seniors and persons with high-risk conditions, to defer participating in indoor religious services at this time and to find safer alternatives to practice their faith, such as participating in outdoor services or remote streaming of services.

Board of Supervisors Recognize National 211 Day
211 is an accessible 3-digit telephone number that enables all Contra Costa County residents to have free and simple, 24/7 access to multilingual health, housing and human service information. Although available to everyone, 211 is especially critical for vulnerable populations such as single parents, very low-income families, frail elders, people with disabilities, caregivers, and non-English speakers who are in need of vital resources. 211 Resource Specialists are trained to assess callers' needs and provide comprehensive and up-to-date information on a wide range of services. 211 Contra Costa call specialists are also trained in crisis and suicide prevention.

The Board of Supervisors approved a resolution on Tuesday, February 9th, recognizing Feb. 11 as National 211 Day.
