Amended Fire Safety Regulations

On February 5, 2025, Governor Murphy signed Bill A3894 into law, which amends and updates several existing fire safety regulations, such as removing the requirement that a fire extinguisher be present at the time of the fire inspection. The bill was supported by NJ Realtors® and fire safety professionals.

The bill goes into effect immediately and adds a requirement for homes containing secondary power sources, and a label must be within 18 inches of the main electrical panel warning of the dangers of secondary power sources; specifics will be determined during the rulemaking process. Real Estate Market for 2024 Q4 (Video)

According to the NJ Realtors® year-end housing market data report, median sales prices in every market sector increased in 2024. The single family median sales price is $560,000, an 11.3% increase over 2023. The townhouse-condo market isn't far behind at $417,000, an 11.2% increase, and the adult community market stands at $359,000, an 8.8% increase. Watch the short video here.

Join us for the next installment of Coffee & Commercial Real Estate, hosted by Jonathan Benowitz of Davis Commercial, with special guest John Lee of 1031 IPX. This in-person event will feature a presentation about 1031 exchange basics, followed by a Q&A and a general discussion about all things 1031 exchange and commercial real estate.

In an effort to reduce waste and maintain cost-effective delivery of the REALTOR® Magazine, the National Association of REALTORS® has reduced the number of print magazines being mailed since 2023.

Members have the option of having their print magazine sent to their office or home. For those who still want the print version, the field "Preferred Publication" in the Member record in the M1 database at nar.realtor, then navigating to "My Account" determines where the magazine will be sent. If "Home" or "Member Mail" is slected, one copy of the magazine will be sent to that address.

For "Preferred Publication of Office" (street or mail), the magazines will be sent to the office in bulk depending on the number of members in that office who selected "Print and Preferred Publication" of one of the office addresses.

The allocation of print magazines is based on company size:

• Six magazines to offices with six to 50 agents
• 12 magazines to offices with 51 to 100 agents
• 20 magazines to offices with more than 100 agents

Reminder Completion of Continuing Education (CE) Credits are Due by

April 30, 2025 to Avoid a Late Fee

The NJ Real Estate Commission (REC) requires licensees to complete 12 continuing education credits every two years.

Important dates for license renewal:

• April 30: CE credits must be completed to avoid a $200 late fee from the NJ Real Estate Commission
• May 1 - June 30: Licensees may submit CE credits, but are subject to a $200 late fee

The 12 CE credit hours include the following:

• Two hours must be completed in the ethics topic area
• One hour must be completed in the fair housing topic area
• One course must be completed in the agency topic area
• The remaining credits may be completed in core, ethics, fair housing, or elective topics
