February 14, 2021
The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, February 15 in observance of Presidents' Day!
A Message from the Rector
This coming Wednesday we are going to celebrate Ash Wednesday, the solemn and official beginning of Lent, this spiritual journey that will lead us to the joy of Easter after having followed Christ in his passion and death in Holy Week. Did you know that the imposition of the ashes is optional? The rubric about the ashes states that, “If ashes are to be imposed, the celebrant says the following prayer…” (BCP p.265) Despite its name, this liturgy is not so much about receiving ashes than it is about repentance and conversion. It’s why the heart of the Ash Wednesday service is the beautiful and meaningful Litany of Penitence (BCP p.267).

On Ash Wednesday, please take the time to watch the video available on our website and on Facebook. And because I know that the ashes are important to many of us, you will have the possibility to come from 9:00 to noon to receive ashes in the parking lot.
Have a blessed and holy Lent!

A Note from Sophie: Hey Kids! This is for you!!

Hello Kids and Families,

I hope you are all doing well! Are you guys in school or are you stuck at home? I can't wait to see you again, in the meantime here is some food for thought. I have shared some links to some great resources on YouTube as well as a great resource on the Transfiguration.
The first video below, on the Gospel of Mark, is geared toward the youth.
The second video below, on the Transfiguration, is geared towards the kids.
A Prayer/Meditation
Love is where those I hold close,
those who hold influence over me,
ultimately where I hold myself,
meets experience in a state of compassionate acceptance.
If I do not hold myself in a state of compassionate acceptance,
How then, do I accept and show True Love to those around me or to myself?
The experiential optical illusion that influences my perception
directly influences how I respond to present-day experiences.
Do I hold onto my story, using it as a shield?
Do I hold onto my story,
allowing it to warp my perception into anything less or more than intended or true?
What I bring to the music is influenced by sensation and emotion;
so, too, I bring the same to each interaction,
each thought,
each feeling that I place into judgment ... or not.
If judged, it prevents experiences from passing through the heart,
where God prevails,
but passes instead through the head, circumventing the influence of the Holy Spirit.
What do you teach me, Lord, that I need to apply to my life from music?
Gentleness and Power, held in balance,
Ride through the waves of sensation, allowing for color within each moment,
expressed with Love and Compassion.
Move in tandem with You at my center
to find Peace and Serenity; the Dance,
letting go, as I pray when I am not in control,
allowing Acceptance to bring about Your Perspective;
allowing others to experience their perspective without judgment,
allowing others to teach me; to show me their perspective,
To bring healing to each soul.
Please use each moment to let us ... let me ... see and hear what each story reflects
through Your Love and Acceptance.
Acceptance allows me to feel Your presence,
Your Peace,
Your Love,
Your Power,
to hear Your Wisdom,
as expressed in the Music,
as expressed and shown within each moment.
Thank you, Lord, for Your Patience,
Your Compassion,
Your Love,
Your Presence.
Thank you for Your Acceptance and Love
