February 15 Greetings
Dear Ones,

It’s Monday, the beginning of the third week of February, as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as the church building is closed for gatherings. I received my first Moderna COVID-19 vaccination yesterday morning. From the time I left my house to the time I returned: one hour! My appointment time was 9:10 – 9:20 a.m. and I arrived at the Sears store at exactly 9:10 a.m., checking in with a guy on the sidewalk. I walked into the building and was greeted by two women under a canopy who were handing out information about the vaccine and asked if I had any questions. I told them that I had downloaded everything that was sent to me and I thought I was good. They sent me one my way to follow the red arrows on the floor that led me into the next room that had nine stations for injections. A nice young man had me sit down, asked my name, had me sign a release form, gave me a shot in my left arm and sent me over to the waiting area. I was directed to sit and wait for 15-30 minutes to ensure that I didn’t have any reaction and then was sent on my way with a cheerful, “See you next month!”

Today my arm is a little sore, but not as bad as the tetanus booster shot a few years ago. If you need any help getting scheduled for a vaccination, let the church office know, we have a few folks who are willing to help make that happen.
Remember that website traffic can be quite heavy during the day, so making an appointment in the evening seems be easier.
Child Haven is a program within Arizona’s Children Association and is our Mission Outreach Partner for February. We have started a pajama collection in the Emmanuel narthex to drop off to the main office in Prescott on Ruth Street.

We are Arizona's best resource for helping children and families. Our programs target the type of future we all want to see: a future where every child has a safe and loving home and families are supported through difficult and trying circumstances.

I am praying and planning for our first outdoor worship to happen the last Sunday in March for Palm Sunday! We anticipate meeting at 1:00 p.m. again in the parking lot since it will be warmer in the afternoon. I am keeping my eye on the weather; it would be wonderful to be physically together in some fashion for Easter. Part of the planning is to make sure that we have folks willing to help with setup and take-down. I hope to have two teams that can rotate weeks so that no one group is overburdened. If you would be willing to come 30 minutes before service or stay 30 minutes after, please call or email the office to let us know!
Lent
The church has purchased Lenten Devotional booklets for every family. I think it will be great to know that we are all reading the devotions at the same time as we travel this Lenten Journey together. Please stop by the church to pick one up if you can—it will save us the postage! The second plastic bin we put out was also stolen, so now look for a smaller plastic box by the north kitchen door, sitting on the HVAC unit. You can get there by the dumpster, just take a left onto the walkway. Also a new photo phone directory is in the works; we hope to have it available by the end of the month.
Lent begins this week; Ash Wednesday is the 17th, and we will offer both a recorded service on YouTube and a Zoom worship with communion at 7:00 p.m. An email with the YouTube information for the recorded Ash Wednesday service will appear in your email on Wednesday afternoon. Please have bread or a cracker and wine or grape juice available to share communion and a candle that is burning, ground cinnamon or cloves, or dirt from a house plant to use for marking the sign of the cross as ashes on hand.

Pr. Patricia Lowe is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

We are still in need of a Treasurer. If you know of someone (even yourself) who might be qualified, please contact Pr. Tricia or Council President Julie Pavri. We absolutely must fill this position. If you have been a manager in a company or agency and can balance your checkbook, you have the skills for this job! Gary Coe has streamlined all the reports and we are doing well financially, so there has never been a better time to take on this job. Gary is willing to show you the ropes. We may need to think outside the box on this, how about two folks taking on the task? We ask the entire congregation to begin praying for guidance about who we should approach!

It’s been a while since anyone has sent me pictures to share, have you been up to something fun? Send pictures!

A Bible verse for today:
One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
