"Preparing for this Holy Time of Year"
|
|
From Pastor Jeff Foels:
Thank you all for your understanding as we adapted schedules last week to accommodate the weather.
The Annual Meeting has been rescheduled for February 23rd
, and the
Ordination and Installation of officers has been rescheduled for March 1st
.
Coming up in our life together as well are Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Our
Ash Wednesday service will be Wednesday, February 26th, starting at 6:30 p.m.
We will celebrate communion together, and receive the imposition of ashes as well. This starts our Lenten devotion together as well.
For Wednesdays during Lent, beginning March 4th, we will gather together for supper at 5:30pm and worship at 6:15pm.
This year,
we'll use the Holden Evening Prayer service as our base of worship each week.
Some of you have used this service before - it is a service of simple melody and music, together with scripture readings and a weekly short lesson or reflection.
If you would like to offer a reflection, please let me know!
I intend to do one or two, but would love others' voices and responses as well.
This is a holy time of year. The dedication of Lent and the chance to reflect and respond in devotion can enrich our lives and help us see more clearly where we are being led in our lives.
Looking forward to it all,
~Jeff

Mission 2020
Jesus then told them: “
Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.
” Mark 16:15
Can you help the Mission Ministry follow this commandment?
We are looking for some people to help organize or arrange our various mission projects throughout the year. This would include projects like:
- Making sandwiches for 363
- Scheduling meal making at Feed My Starving Children
- Various projects and drop offs at IOCP
- Volunteering at Bloom
Or, maybe you have some new ideas to support the mission work at PPC. If you can help the Mission Ministry, please contact Mark Kipp ([email protected] or 763-404-2476).
The Mission Ministry team wants to thank all that everyone that donated to our 94 lbs of food we dropped off to IOCP in January. This included over 150 rolls of toilet paper, which they desperately needed. Also a big shout out to the 11 members that volunteered in the Food Shelf on our fifth Wednesday in January. Our next food shelf Wednesday will be on April 29th. Please look for more details after Easter.
Thank you!

Minute for Mission:
Again this year, PPC will be supporting Ben Holman in his Soles4Souls shoe drive. Soles4Souls will turn your unwanted shoes into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use - providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
How do your shoes help individuals?
Without shoes, people are vulnerable to scrapes, cuts, bacteria and parasites that can lead to infection and other serious illnesses. Kids without shoes often can’t attend school and adults can’t work. New shoes give people the feeling of joy and dignity they deserve.
The EPA states that only 14% of clothing and footwear in the U.S. is recycled, leaving the remaining 86% in our landfills. In 2018 alone, Soles4Souls kept almost 3,000 tons of textiles out of landfills— 47 million pounds in their 10-year history. And all those shoes and clothing diverted from landfills provide opportunities to thousands of entrepreneurs in their micro-enterprise program.
Please start collecting your unused shoes and drop them off in the box at PPC.

shelves will be in the back of the church by the classrooms with a smaller cabinet by the front door. Please put items in the bin at the front of the church.
