FROM THE SCHOOL

AP PROCTORS NEEDED FOR MAY 2024 TESTING

ICS students take their AP tests at LWHS campus or at the district office and rely on the LWHS team to host our students. Let’s do our part and help by providing proctors so that AP testing can run smoothly this year! AP testing takes place between May 6 - May 24 at all comprehensive high schools and the district office. Hours are variable and come with an hourly stipend. Proctor hours also count as ICS family volunteer hours.

If you are able to help, please contact Laura Morgan, lmorgan@lwsd.org, to review proctor qualifications and discuss next steps.

STUDENT POETRY TO BE FEATURED ON PUBLIC TRANSIT

Congratulations to three ICS juniors—Jasmine Zhen, Maxim Baryshnikov, and Ashwari Shende—and Ms. Jackson for having their poems accepted to the 2024 Poetry in Public: Places of Landing. Through a submission process open to all King County residents, their poems were selected to be shared with the public on transit (buses, light rail, stations, and website) in 2024!

Jasmine is also “one of 52 poets whose poems will be shared on social media, with a professional portrait and audio recording. These poems will be shared weekly starting in Spring 2024 on 4Culture’s social media channels and will be available all year on www.4culture.org/poetry."

VOLUNTEERING

NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - ICS INTERIOR CLEANING

Let’s make ICS clean, shiny, and healthy before the school year ends! Please join us for the ICS Interior Cleaning Event on Tuesday, February 27, 5:30 PM-8:00 PM.

Cleaning supplies will be provided, along with food and drinks. We will wipe desks and chairs, vacuum and sweep classrooms and hallways, and wipe windows and doors.

Earn you last volunteer hours this year with your immediate family - please no kids under grade 6. Please bring a vacuum cleaner, if you can.

Please RSVP here.

HELP! WE STILL NEED A BADMINTON COACH!

We have a Badminton Club starting this February! We need a parent to step forward to coach. The club will be Mondays and Thursday from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM for 8 weeks. Would you be interested in teaching this fun sport to ICS Students? Please reach out to president@icsptsa.org.

STILL SEEKING: BUILDING BATTLE OF BOOKS VOLUNTEERS!

We will be having our annual Building Battle of the Books Challenge after school on Wednesday, March 20.

We need a few more parent volunteers to be table judges. Time is after school 1:15 PM and we will probably finish by 2:45 PM.

Please review the available slots and sign up.
