Dear St. Rita School Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to our students and families for participating in our recent fundraiser, Raise Craze. Not only did we raise over $ 30,000 toward our school fundraising target of $110,000, but our students performed over 500 acts of kindness. In addition, our students and their families donated food to the food pantry, disposable tote bags, pet supplies, kindness rocks, and cards, to organizations within the greater Hamden area. Thank you to Katie Arcangelo, Tayna Rucker and Robin Inniamo for coordinating the thank-you event last Thursday. Buttery popcorn and cool treats were just the way to kick off our winter break. It was so great to see so many of our families taking the opportunity to admire the decorated doorways and student work lining our hallways. Thank you also to Rosa Sullivan for coordinating this exciting fundraiser.
Congratulations to our Crusader Crusher Robotics Team C (Ryan A, Nila M., Sophia S., and Emily V.) who recently qualified for the state-wide robotics competition in March. I am so proud that all three Robotics teams will be representing St. Rita School in the upcoming state-wide competition. Thank you to our teachers and parents for their support of our Robotics teams.
The regular basketball season has come to an end and state-wide competition will begin the weekend of March 1. A number of our teams have qualified to advance to state play. Once the schedule is posted, I will send it out. All state-wide play will take place at either East Catholic High School in Manchester , Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol, and possibly some of the Catholic elementary schools located in the greater Hartford area. There is an entry fee for both students and adults during the state tournament play. The Diocese of Norwich, CT will be hosting the New England Tournament (weekend of March 28-30). If our teams advance from state competition and play in the New England tournament, all games will be played in the central Connecticut area. Good luck Crusaders.
Registration for new students for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year is currently open to our school families. If you have another child you would like to have join our school community for next year, please contact Mrs. Bruno, our admissions director, for the registration information. Re-enrollment for current students will not take place until early March.
Please continue to encourage and support your child in performing acts of kindness. In St. Paul’s Letter to the Colossians: 3:12 he states “as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” If we all lived by the words of St. Paul, this world be so much kinder for us and our children. Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care.
Have a great week.
God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
