OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi
Dear SRS Parents and Guardians,

Over the past few days we have been celebrating Catholic Schools Week. This year’s CSW theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” On Monday, the students created cards and stuffed goodie bags that were distributed to our bus drivers, crossing guards, delivery people, and staff at the St. Paul VI church offices. Platters of cookies were also given to our police and fire departments to thank all the first responders for their service to our community. Yesterday was a day to celebrate our students with a spirit day and bingo, and today we celebrate our nation by wearing hats. The Penny Challenge is also in progress throughout the week. Thank you to everyone who has donated.

The festivities for the remainder of the week are as follows:

Thursday, February 3 - Celebrate Our Faculty, Staff and Volunteers. The NJHS and STUCO will assist Mrs. Tiezzi in providing a mid-morning treat for our very dedicated faculty and staff members. Thank you to all our teachers and staff members for your hard work fostering the love of learning within our students. The students will participate in a dance off at various times throughout the school day.
Friday, February 4 - Celebrate Our Vocation. Students and teachers will attend First Friday Mass. Grade 3 students will be the lectors. Students and teachers will honor and thank Sr. Anne, Msgr. Joe, Fr. Tiano and Fr. Mauricio for answering God’s call to religious life or the priesthood. Students will have a surprise treat after lunch on Monday to celebrate our 100th day!

As we close out Catholic Schools Week, let us all take some time to reflect on the purpose and mission of Catholic education. From the document Catholic Schools on the Threshold of the Third Millennium from the Congregation for Catholic Education, states “that the Church’s teaching mission is to invite young people to a relationship with Jesus Christ or deepen their existing relationship with Jesus, inserting young people into the life of the Church, and assisting young people to see and understand the role of faith in one’s daily life and in the larger society.” All our teachers and faculty members here at St. Rita work to support you in your role as the primary teacher and model of the Catholic faith for your child. Working together we will raise a generation of kind, compassionate and faith-filled young people who will make a positive difference in our world.

Every year at this time, our school finance committee begins planning for the upcoming school year. In order to determine staffing for the upcoming year, it is important to know the number of students who will be returning for the 2022-2023 school year. Please take a few minutes to complete the attached survey HERE to let us know your intention. We expect re-registration to begin sometime in March once tuition rates have been set. New enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year is currently open. If you know of anyone who is interested in learning more about our wonderful school, please have them contact Mrs. Bruno, our Admissions Director.

According to the groundhog, we can expect six more weeks of winter so please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately to go outside for recess daily. If your child is missing their fleece, sweatshirt, hat, gloves, or any other item please have them look for it in the overflowing bin found at the top of the gym stairs. Please consider labeling your child’s belongings to make retrieval easier. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. I leave you with a quote from a plaque in my office “Be it known to all who enter here, that CHRIST is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.” Happy Catholic Schools Week to all!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

Hamden Hall Country Day School is once again offering its popular Summer Engineering & Science Academy to students entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 who enjoy challenging themselves with hands-on activities in the fields of engineering, science, technology and mathematics.

Experiential learning is at the nucleus of this complimentary, fully funded, week-long enrichment program, which is scheduled this year for July 11-15. Students perform lab work and collaborate in groups to fully explore and make discoveries in the areas of DNA technology, forensics, cryptography, sustainable architecture, chemistry, and more.

The current CDC guidelines for exposures to a positive person within a household are that you are 'encouraged' to quarantine for 5 days after the family member's first symptoms or positive test, regardless of vaccine status.

This week we have seen several cases where a family member did not quarantine after another member of the household tested positive and then ended up testing positive.

We would like to strongly encourage your children to quarantine for 5 days if a member of the house tests positive. Your child will be able to attend online learning.

The symptoms that parents are reporting with this new variant are very mild. If your child displays any cold symptoms or seems more tired than usual, please keep them home and test for COVID.
