THE WITNESS

For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all, you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

  Announcements & Coming Events

This Sunday, the Adult Sunday School class will be learning about Sister Helen Prejean , a Catholic nun who has befriended inmates on death row. We'll talk about sister Helen's powerful story of learning what it means to be " the face of love" for those who need it most. Anne Galliher will be leading our discussion.

The "Meet and Greet Your Deacon" Social is this Sunday, February 23rd, in the gym after worship . Come and enjoy delicious snacks and fellowship with our Eastminster family. The social will be held, in the gym, immediately following the worship service.

The Outreach Blood Drive will be Sunday, March 1st from 8:30 am to 1 pm. Look for us in the LifeSouth Bloodmobile and help us reach our goal of 15 units of blood; you must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and have a picture ID. Come and give, knowing that your "Gift of Life" will save lives.

Aging in Place Workshop and Resource Fair on Saturday, March 7, 2020 8:30am - 12:30pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church 4882 Lavista Road Tucker, GA. 30084. Christmas may feel like a long time ago, but the generosity of the Eastminster Congregation remains a present reminder to the ESL Refugee students at Piedmont Technical College who received warm gloves, hats, scarves, and socks. The photos were taken when the gift bags were distributed in Darlene Job's class.

The thank you card is signed by the students in her class, but the gifts extended to several other classes. The Outreach Committee thanks each of you for your responsiveness to our Refugee Outreach ministry.

  Special Performance

  null
Everyone is invited on March 13th at 8 pm to the Lyric Studio in Marietta Square for Jarius Cliett's unique cabaret event called "The Switch Up." It features artists swapping vocal songs: with guys singing songs written for ladies, and ladies singing songs written for guys. This is the first show that Jarius has produced with his new company JMC Productions. Tickets can be purchased at www.atlantalyric.com .

Sounds like we need another Road Trip! Congregational Life and Care would like to offer transportation to this event in Marietta. The plan is to meet at the church on Friday, March 13th at 5:30pm. In order to avoid the early evening traffic on 285 we will eat at the Piccadilly Cafeteria near Northlake Mall (2000 Crescent Center Blvd). We will be using the church bus so we have room for 14 people. Tickets are available through the Lyric Theatre Box Office.

Please either call the church office or Rick Adle (770-498-0532) to reserve your seat.
